Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Well, Barca just got Neymar for 24m £, one of the hottest property in world football... That was cheap. We will be asking for 3 times that for Bale and Madrid will look stupid..

http://www.totalbarca.com/2011/news/has-neymar-already-signed-for-barcelona/

Barca and Neymar have been in talks for years. I remember hearing before last season that they have first option on him for about £20m and if anyone bids and the bid gets accepted, Barca get offered him first.

Re: Gareth Bale

Where does our a partnership with Madrid come into this? It makes it easier? more akward for levy to resist?
Levy is surely too hard-headed to be swayed by any 'partnership' stuff. But where it might come into play is in landing one or two decent cast-offs from RM as a make-weight. I'm dubious that we will get a straight cash deal much over £50m tbh, despite all the number being tossed around in the media.

Re: Gareth Bale

Marca is to Real Madrid what Pravda was to the Communist party.

The only reason they get more attention than their counterparts Goal.com, is that they print actual "interviews" with Real Madrid staff and players - although they're closer to official press statements than proper, journalistic pieces.

Only guessing here but i doubt it would come in to it at all - can't imagine the 'partnership' has any influence in transfer matters other than possible first option type deals

Re: Gareth Bale

And if you are right it makes Levy look spineless. always telling us that our key players will not be sold and always buckling under the pressure, maybe he should keep his gob shut in the first place

Easy.
Where has that come from?

Re: Gareth Bale

Some guy on a Spurs site has claimed to have emailed Jonathan Barnett and got a response.

Full article here. I do feel this is a storm in a teacup as above.

Of course it's taken out of context. Everything today is. But he's still a bit of a qunt, isn't he?

He's the bloke that brokered Cashley Cole's transfer from le arse to chelsea...very much illegally. Banned by the F.A. for some 18 months and fined 100.00. And his partner in crime at Stellar Football ltd., which is officially Bale's agency, is now being accused of illegal tampering with a player.

Lovely bunch aren't they... :-k

Re: Gareth Bale

Speculation was always going to occur this summer given Bale's phenomal form. Tbh, even if we did finish in the top 4, that wouldn't have stopped the likes of Madrid, Bayern etc from enquiring.

We would all want Levy in our corner when it comes to negotiations, but can people really see him turning down a headspinning offer like say £60m?

I stopped kidding myself about players being loyal/loving the club they play for when Berbatov and Keane were sold in 2008. I'm not saying Bale will go this summer, but I've already prepared myself the eventual outcome of him going, whenever that is. I really wouldn't blame him for wanting to leave this summer though should an offer from a bigger club come in.

Re: Gareth Bale

The thing about the media is that they make it sound like something is happening right now or just about to happen, but these things take time and they don't know exactly at what stage anything is.

Re: Gareth Bale

This

And if Levy was a man of his word he would keep Bale this summer and really give us some quality to have a go next season.

You sell Bale for £60m and a player that would cost £10m all of a sudden costs £20m because everyone knows we are desparate after losing our talisman. Or a £20m player jumps up to £30m and in a blink of an eye the money has gone.

It took time for Bale to develop into the beast he has become, I doubt anyone close to that quality would want to come to us when they could go to a CL team

i dont understand what you mean, levy is a man of his word. He has never once though categorically stated that we wont sell our players no matter what.

he said we would try not to

so i dont get what you mean. he held out with modric. that summer he definitively stated that no matter the amount of money that modric would not be sold that year ..and he wasnt

so i am not sure why you feel betrayed here

bale was always on the menu

Re: Gareth Bale

Another round of 'Bale must go to Real':

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has further increased speculation linking Tottenham star Gareth Bale with a move to Santiago Bernabue, insisting he was "was born to play" for the club.

The 23-year-old scored 21 Premier League goals last season as Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League, and he is expected to sign a new contract worth £130,000 at White Hart Lane this summer.

However, Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, admitted on Wednesday that the attacker would consider any offer from the Liga giants.

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, meanwhile, has hailed Bale as "one of the best players in the world" and backed him to be a success if he joins the club.

"He would be a good signing for the club," he told Marca. Bale is one of the best players in the world and at Real Madrid we always have the best. I am convinced that if the club want him he would be a great signing."

Gareth Bale's potential move to Real Madrid depends on three key events – despite his agent saying he would be "honoured" to speak to the club about the Tottenham winger.

In the first instance, Real are yet to even entertain a figure close to Tottenham's reported asking price of £50m for the Welshman, who scored 31 goals last season and scooped two player of the year awards.

If they get close to the fee demanded by Spurs, a second and third potential obstacle could be that the Spanish club must first sell both Fabio Coentrao and Angel di Maria, who are set to move on following Jose Mourinho's exit.

Real Madrid have lined up a full-scale assault to sign Bale this summer and will make a £60million bid - but the Spanish giants will have to do better than that if they want to tempt Levy to sell.

That's because, we understand, Emirates Marketing Project, Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have all made it clear they are prepared to pay £80m for the Welshman.

Spurs would be reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival, but all five clubs would move in with concrete bids given the slightest encouragement - although they all might have to wait until next summer to do business.

Levy is standing firm and will battle to keep his star even after the 24-year-old's agent, Jonathan Barnett, moved the saga up a gear by telling a Spanish TV show that he and Bale were "honoured" by Real's interest.

It is still more likely that Bale will leave Spurs next summer than in the current close-season but intriguingly - even though there have been preliminary talks - it now seems impossible to imagine the Welsh flier will sign a new contract.

Tottenham know that even their proposed £170,000-a-week would not match what Bale can earn elsewhere.

Even though he has three years left on his present deal, the exit strategy has begun.

Real would be prepared to offer players-plus-cash to lure Bale this summer, and Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain is one man they would be willing to put into any deal.

Once the whistle blew at Saudi Sportswashing Machine over a week ago I could just see this brick happening all summer but it doesn't make any difference, really get the feeling that this summer will be summers 2008 and 2011 combined and then multiplied by a million ](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)
