I think if we can buy 2 new FBs and a DM it could change a lot

I also think we can move to 4-3-3

the weaknesses at FB are just shocking to me as we have ones who can’t do the defensive work

Tang over Toby because he’s the future.
 
I struggled with defence. I don't trust Sanchez and Taganga is still pretty inexperienced. I'd take a fully fit Toby and Vert over them.

I think (hope) a fully fit and upto speed NDombele will be a beast. Obviously at the moment he is nowhere that, and has a hell of a lot to prove. But I'm hoping.

Back to attacking wing backs and an attacking 4231. Plenty of strength and transition from the double pivot too.
Pace and creativity in the attacking midfields and no square pegs in round holes!

It’s amazing what having fully fit players, playing to their full potential, and in their best positions can do for a team! :D

Especially when you play a tactic and formation which beats suits the individuals ethos as well!
 
I dont think Ndombele is pick-able yet given he hasnt shown the ability to play a full 90 mins, and get properly involved.

My team would be the following, with those in brackets hopefully being upgraded in the summer. I've said it before but the others form the basis of a title-winning team. We also have plenty of squad players...but when the back 4 is so sub-standard and they have no protection in front of them, you dont have a chance

Have we managed to put out the same team for a run of games this season? Only once or twice we've been unchanged? The major challenge for Poch and Mourinho has been choosing their best team with new players and then injuries. Only Hugo, Kane and Son were definite starters. Though Sanchez and LeCelco on recent form would be too.

Tough on Dier. But he still needs to prove himself at CB. Winks is good, but I don't think he can play 2 games a week and maintain a high standard. He's an excellent squad player for me. Alli and Moura would be the first to rotate into the attack.

Will Dier ever become a DM again or are we stuck with Winks/Skipp at the moment. Would love to see Sess as a flying wingback going back to his early Fulham days. Will NDombele ever get fit and adapt to the PL? Will Toby and Verts ever be able to recreate their solid CB partnership?

So many unanswered questions - especially in defence. If all our attackers and midfielders are fit, we have many fewer problems in that area.

Hence it is in defence we need to spend big in the summer (as well as that elusive CF cover)

Which might make sense in terms of balancing the squad we currently have to start pairing up Toby & Tanganga as a partnership, in rotation with Dier & Davison as another partnership.

That then leaves Jan and Davies to alternate in the hybrid ‘sitting’ left back role.

Dier drops back like in the olden days. Tanganga over Sanchez on the probably flawed hope that he has a higher ceiling. Sess over Davies likewise. Would love to be proved wrong about Lucas over Steve B. I could also be proved wrong about playing Lo Celso as an ACM, and it would certainly be nice to push him forward to drop Dele.

Nearly forgot Hugo, and it was perturbing to have doubts about that choice, too.

Its sad to see but both of those players seem to have gone past their best and i do not see them recovering to their former glory.

Same. The decline has been so rapid although I thought Verts had an ok game yesterday.
