Frank Maloney

Did Maloney ever handle Frank Bruno?

Not quite sure what you mean by that!

Seriously though, is anyone else a little bothered by the tone in which this is reported? There seems to be a suggestion that in the 'manly' world of boxing there's no place for anything but a 'normal' heterosexual male.

The BBC article or the Mirror's? Or did you just mean how it is being reportedly generally, I think the reports reflect the genuine shock that this news has caused. Whilst we undoubtedly live in a far more tolerant and open minded society than say 20 or 30 years ago, we do still all have our preconceptions and I guess those who know of Frank Maloney, would never have had him pegged as the 'type' of bloke who would view himself as a woman, much less undergo gender reassignment. I suppose it just goes to show that you never really know what inner issues, conflicts and turmoil a person is dealing with. I hope his new life brings him a peace that has evidently been missing all the years he felt the need to hide his true self.

The Mirror mainly. All between the lines, but it just feels a little "blokes down the pub taking the **** out of a weirdo" to me.

People were starting to get suspicious of Frank Maloney when he was negotiating fight purses and demanding that they were Louis Vuitton
