Football Trivia Question of the Day

Thought there might have been more than 2 since El Tel.

Question is - who will be next?

Slim pickings at the moment with only Alan Pardew (Saudi Sportswashing Machine), Harry Redknapp (QPR), Brian McDermott (Reading), Nigel Adkins (Southampton) & Sam Allardyce (West Ham) as the only English Premier League managers.

Personally I feel it is far too long since a Portuguese manager won the FA Cup. This needs to be rectified before any English managers get a turn.

Sunday 6th January 2013:

When was the last time a club with striped shirts won the English Top Flight League Championship?

A long time unless clubs wore an unusual strip one year. I can't think of any post war so probably Sunderland sometime in the 30s.

Monday 7th January 2013:

How many of the 22 clubs who formed the 1920-21 Third Division went on to play in the Top Flight?

That was the top division of the Southern League (plus, I think Grimsby) and the move that made the Football League truly national. So I'd expect a good proportion of the teams to make the top tier at some time. I'll go for 15. I'd also guess that only a few of the northern clubs that made up the Third Division North the following year made the top tier (5-6).

Good shout with 15.

Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Grimsby Town, Luton Town, Millwall, Northampton Town, Norwich City, Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Southampton, Swansea, Swindon Town and Watford.

What was unusual about goalkeeper Ron Springett's move to Queens Park Rangers from Sheffield Wednesday in 1967?
