Football back in the day

We could say that teams from the 60's and such wouldn't stand a chance against any PL team of today, but I would love to see how a PL team of today would perform on one of these epic pitches, or should I say, groundhog infested cow pastures. Eh?

I didn't even live back then, but a part of me dreams of being able to experience a season without all the glitz, glam, punditry gonads.

Anyways - would love stories, pictures, and videos of the good ol' days. I know quite a few of you have them.

Jimmy greaves scoring after leaving us in a swap with Martin Peters. I was working in Manchester at the time and was going to travel down to the Lane [ against Coventry]. However i loved Jimmy so i decided to go to Maine road and see him make his debut for the Hammers.

The pitch was like a cow field but Jimmy floated above it and scored a couple of goals.

fudging hell, the state of that pitch! Imagine our current lot out on that, haha, the whole team would be injured within a few minutes.

I personally think the general skill levels have deteriorated since those days but the development of technology (boots, balls) and significant changes in lifestyle, fitness and medical support (outside of N17 of course) mean a faster game.

I watch games now where passing is poor, crossing woeful and shots go off for throw ins regularly. We used to call that a Geoff Thomas because his was the first one we remembered but now .....

It makes me laugh when people say Maradona, Pele, Hoddle, Cruyff, Best, Charlton can't match the Messi's and Ronaldo's in the GOAT argument.
