Chich - you saying about giving up sugar (really well done, it took me about 6weeks to get some balance when doing this, plus I allow myself moderate amounts in fruit, like apples and dried prunes) and training a lot, I think that Lemon water is your best friend here. Reams, who I adore the work of, stated that it is about the only anionic food, and it is alkaline in it's effect on the body, plus it is rich in hydrochloric acid which makes sure the liver has plenty of bile (which food repeating might be a sign of lacking, or poor, bile flow/production etc. Though might not, but is still very good for you either way).
At the moment I am trying to follow Reams concept of drinking 1 part lemon 9 parts water alternating with just water, so a glass of lemon water (with a little raw honey "from an organic farm" to cut it's tart nature), attempting half my pound weight in ounces fluid per day. I'm about 160 pounds so I am trying to drink 80 ounces, but's it's hard and you tinkle alot!
Though I think just drinking 2 or 3 glasses of good lemon water a day with plenty of water also is a good starting point. I have half an organic unwaxed lemon per glass of drink plus half a teaspoon of raw honey (at home, at work I forgo the honey)
Here is a talk Reams did on Lemons within a lecture -

"As a mathematical genius Reams was very familiar with Einstein's energy equation and understood its significance. During his many years of friendship with Albert Einstein he once chided him saying 'you know how to take matter apart but you don't know how to put it back together again.' Einstein immediately shot back that figuring out how to do that was a job for Reams."
Might be a bit heavy going (especially given the poor grammar), but this is a good primer on Carey Reams;
