You must mean Dier then cause there is no way in hell Fazio is our best centre half - Jan has been strong this year and when playing well is excellent.
What a presumptuous and silly thing to say - have you not seen the numerous errors Fazio has made for oppo goals? To say that you can guarantee he would have ensured a clean sheet at half time is utter madness. Dier is playing above him for a reason and yesterday my guess would be that on that pitch his lack of mobility could have been really exposed by Chelsea.
Up close to the action, Jan has really been more vocal this year and was in Walker and Dier's error throughout the second half.

That's the problem with Verthongen, though. When he playes well, he is excellent but he will invariably have a brain fart in the box - as he did so many times this season - and undo all that excellent work.
Much as I would love him to be, I cannot see Jan as our long term solution at CB

I thought that both of our two centre halves (and indeed our whole back 4) played really well yesterday. Yes we conceded two goals, but both deflected and one off of a ridiculously conceded free kick.

Agree fully.
Bit of a poor header from Rose for the opener. Particularly as we had players right behind him ready to clear it, but perhaps the communication just wasn't there. The free kick was poor from Chadli, just fudging challenge for the ball.
