FA Cup 5th Round Draw

thats toss. I think they should have them at neutral grounds.

Wembley is a neutral ground tbf but i agree the semi's shouldn't be there

St. James Park, Old Trafford, The Emirates, City of Manchester, Villa Park, Stadium of Light - no reason why these can't be used on a rotor or even decided upon once the semi's are drawn and the best for each side would be chosen.

Wembley in the semi's is just a bit of an anti climax

It generates vast income due to its capacity.

Just hope (if we make the semis) we're playing on the first day. Pitch would most likely be buggered again

yeh guess so, but main reason I dont like it is for it being anti climax.

Then again, our famous victory was in the semi at Wembley wasnt it....

Still think Wembley should be for final only but main reason is the FA need to get their money back so as many games/events there as possible for them hence what ArcspacE said

The semis are in contract at Wembley for over the next 10 years. Neutral venues is the fairest way of deciding such games since it doesn't make sense having the likes of, say, Manchester United and Saudi Sportswashing Machine travelling down to London for a game. It makes sense that they're being held at Wembley while they're paying off the stadium - they did run ridiculously over-budget after all! Hopefully they revert back to neutral venues after the bowl is paid for.

In someways it is a bit of an anti climax that the Semi Finals are at Wembley but I won't complain because as a member it means I will definitely get a ticket given my points. If it was held anywhere else with the exception of possibly Old Trafford then it wouldn't even go to members as no other ground is large enough to accomodate all our season ticket holders plus the other teams and all the corporate jamboree aka football family rubbish.

Therefore I am in favour of it being at Wembley for as long as they want to keep it there if I am being totally honest. Romanticism for others or Ticket for me? Ticket wins everytime thanks.

In the semis the fans at least get tickets. For the final a lot is taken by sponsors and others.

As I said a few posts up, the FA get ?ú10m every sell out, the semi's will be at Wembley forever with that much cash on offer

Exactly. I think for the Semi against Pompey in 2010 we got an allocation of around 34,000 so most members with any half decent number of points above around 180 I would guess would get a ticket. For the final, I think Chelsea and Portsmouth's allocation was scarcely above 25,000. That would mean just about all season ticket holders and I bet the other 1000 wouldnt even go on sale to members, they would be kept back for Staff sales who are entitled to 2 tickets at face value.

Wasn't the original reason for having the semis at Wembley to help the FA pay off the pile of cash they had to spend on the stadium in the first place?

Over time it'll become the norm and even after Wembley's paid off, they'll keep the semis there for exactly the reason marky states.

It's a bloody shame really. I enjoyed the trips to Elland Road and Old Trafford in recent times. Well, I say enjoyed, I didn't really "enjoy" them, but you get what I mean. More than the trip to Wembley for the game against Pompey, that's for sure.

Its less than that for the final, its more like 21k, the Carling Cup was 32k per team, the fans final they bill it

I think initially in the first final it was around 21k but such a stink was kicked up over less than half the capacity going to the fans of the two clubs that they upped it by a whopping 4000 tickets each for the next few finals so they could say it was in excess of half the capacity.

Our FA Cup 5th Round tie away to Stevenage has been selected for live television coverage and will therefore take place on Sunday, February 19, kick-off 2pm.

It is nothing different than playing a north London derby in Trafford.
