Everton

I honestly thought that we would get a little unstuck against them one way or another. Even though we were dominating once that first goal went in ... i thought the worst.

I think they are a help rather than a threat. They must have given our team so much confidence after that victory yesterday, and all our key goal scorers scored so ready for the busy period of matches.

I say it every year but I think the money they spent the last 5 years will finally pay off.

Bog thing will be how they finance their new stadium.

I think they will be top 6 and above Man U.

David Moyes open to Everton return as pressure increases on boss Marco Silva
The Scot was in charge at Goodison Park between 2002 and 2013, leading the Toffees into the top four in 2005

David Moyes is open to a sensational return to Everton – with struggling boss Marco Silva under increasing pressure.

Moyes, who left Everton for Manchester United in 2013 after 11 years at Goodison Park, is now the bookies' favourite to succeed Silva, should the Portuguese get the sack.

Mirror Sport understands Moyes wants a return to the Premier League, after turning down the offer of jobs in the Championship and League One in recent weeks.

Moyes, who lasted just 10 months at United, is currently out of work after leaving West Ham in 2018, after six months in charge.

But the 56-year-old, who also managed Real Sociedad and Sunderland post-United, is now the heavy favourite to become the next Toffees boss – for the second time.

Moyes managed Everton between 2002 and 2013 after joining from Preston North End, overseeing 518 matches and leading the Toffees into the top four in 2005.

Silva is on the brink at Everton after a woeful start to the Premier League season, despite a summer spend in excess of £100million.

Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League, having picked up just seven points from eight games, with Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Burnley making it four defeats on the spin.

Silva is the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job, although he is set to remain in charge for Everton’s next game, after the international break, at home to West Ham on October 19.

The odds on Moyes becoming the next Everton boss dropped from 7/4 to 5/6 with bookmaker Paddy Power.

Emirates Marketing Project coach and former Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is an 8/1 shot while ex-Saudi Sportswashing Machine boss Rafa Benitez, currently managing in China, is 10/1.

Of course Moyes is open to it! fudging hell...

They really are an odd club. Makes you wonder if the man who owns the club will walk away.

Digne might be gettable from them now.

There is a lesson learned with Everton, West Ham, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Villa, etc (all at some point close to or ahead of us).

Fans think its about buying this player or hiring that manager, it isn't, it is about how the club is run.

Everton should be doing a lot better than they are. Seems to be some sort of rot at the club holding them back.

And Im not entirely sure its the manager.

Silva looked a really good prospect pre-Everton. Now he looks like a flop. But the way things go at that club - I cant help thinking he will do well once he moves on. And the next really good prospect to go in there will also struggle...

Didn’t Hull go down in the end that season? He provoked some stimulus but in the end you gotta go by the facts. A bit like how Redknapp is our second best manager of the PL era despite everyone’s personal feelings about him (particularly on this website). Managers have to get things over the line.

They were more or less sunk when he went in, I thought. Though he did a very credible job, got them on a run and in with a chance...

Just looked, took over in January when they were bottom having been Mike Phelan'd (13pts), his record: P22 W8 D3 L11 (W,L,D,W,L,D,L,D,L,W,L,W,W,L,L,W,D,L,L,L) and ended on 34pts (6 short of Watford in 17th)

Lost only 2 of 9 home games, maybe thats what I was remembering most? Relegated 14th May, second last game of the season. The last was a 7-1 mauling by us!

I thought it was impressive how positive a reaction he got from them, how they were really attacking and going for it, and how they very nearly did the job.

Got no time for him, hasn’t done anything of note at Everton except spend a lot of cash. Shot himself in the face at Watford (more his level) and failed to keep Hull up. Was bigged up by football hipsters to the sky.

Silva definitely has shown he can improve teams in the short term but has suffered from rapid and promotion in my view, not too dissimilar as I’ve witnessed in my workplaces.

He did well to improve Hull but he was fortunate they were so poor he was starting from a low point. Rather than continue that work he used his high stock to get the Watford job, a club that seems to operate at a similar level regardless of who the manager is (similar MO to Chelsea, high turnover of manager not choosing who to sign keeps the players on their toes) then when things were going well he was happy to jettison them for the next stepping stone. When that was blocked their form nose dived. Everton have spent lots albeit badly and paid a premium to get him one the successful players from Watford.

I always felt Everton would struggle to break top 6 but if he’d kept them at 7th, which is their par they’d actually be in a good position to take advantage due to the sub par performances us and United have put in.
