The EFL would need to agree to it, would they? Doubtful in my opinion.

It's very far from straightforward.

I was talking more about the mechanism/logistics of putting them in lg 2, you was talking about it affecting leagues way down the pyramid when it doesn't need to.

Wasnt concerned with whether or not the EFL (the FA ?) would agree, though I'd imagine money would talk and having a big club like City and that story playing out in the leagues would give them an incentive.

I see this or similar quite a lot online and in some media columns.

It will not happen, you would need to change around promotions/relegation a long way down the football pyramid to allow it to happen. Lower league clubs would miss out and/or be penalised.

Much as I would love to see it I don't believe it will happen, my bet is 12 points and £1m fine. The number of charges are muddying the expectations of fans, wouldn't be surprised to see most of them unproven. I have no faith in the system other than to protect the wealthy.

I wasn't going to bother replying, yet I think I should.

You said - you just give an additional promotion slot to that league for the year previous to make space (and then one extra to lg 1 & the Champ so as to fill the gap left by City) No one misses out

Yet what about the teams in the seasons before and after these extra slots, you don't think they'd have something to say? You think they would just accept it as the PL has decreed City will go there and you lot will like it? Not going to happen.

Therein lies your problem?

100% agree with you.

What clubs in the season before this hypothetical scenario would be missing out and what would they be missing out on? My suggestion has the clubs who would have achieved promotion, still getting promoted and the ones relegated still being relegated, so no one missing out on something they had earned that season.

The seasons after, sure, every time City gained a promotion it would affect one club who otherwise would have been promoted - however this isn't the same as taking something away from a club that has earned it, each season the 24 (?) clubs in the league would still have the chance to earn promotion, only whichever league City resided in would be tougher.

Regardless, once again, my post was just pointing out that the mechanism (promotions/relegations) of parachuting a club to lg 2 wasn't overly complicated and wouldn't affect promotion & relegation that season a long way down the league ladder as you implied it would, it would just be whichever league City were moved to and above. If you wasn't suggesting that putting City in league two would cause immediate disruption way down the football league pyramid then I misunderstood. The other parts around the discussion wasn't something I was commenting on.

No break clause according to reports. Have said all along there will be no significant punishment. If they remove the card at the base of the pyramid then the whole house will collapse.
They ain't at the bottom of the pyramid. They're at the top, and they're going down!
Big time!

It's the leagues choice wether they take them in or not. The prem can relegate to the championship. They'd have no choice but to take them. It would mean 3rd from bottom didn't get relegated. They can also kick them out of the prem. Then city would have to ask leagues to take them in. If they say no. They'll start at the bottom of the pyramid. Similar to rangers did.
