61 goals this season (outside the WC) of which about 15 were CL goals.

German League or not thats fudging insane.

I do laugh at the German League comments given how sh1t the PL is these days.

How poor the PL is these days? Is this the same PL that dominates European competitions. Has supplied both the Europa League winners and the Conference League winners for the past two seasons AND one of the three UCL Finalists?!

The Premier League remains the strongest league. It has also become more competitive than ever and the smaller teams are rising to be serious competitors for European places. These teams would seriously challenge in the Europa or Conference Leagues.

It is only a handful of European elites that are competitive with the Premier League these days.

Fair, but it's not so binary. As mentioned before, Kane was quite anonymous vs Norway. Is that because Norway are as good as France/Spain/Argentina, because Madueke and Gordon don't cross or something else?
As i say, it's a fair debate for me these days

Idiots like Saka, Gordon, Madueke don't understand their role is "get the ball to Kane", park the fudging ego, get it to him, was an issue the first year in Bayern as well (still think a few Bayern players make the wrong choice between go alone or get to Kane)

The other thing people are missing is Jude is benefiting from Kane just being in the side, opposition teams will always cover him, it leaves space elsewhere that Jude has exploited amazingly well. Nobody is double marking fudging Watkins

Just going to say this

If you watch Bellingham's 2nd goal it a) comes from a header from Kane at the back post which is saved by the keeper but then recycled by England and then b) 4 players are marking Kane and 1 other England player leaving Bellingham with a one-on-one.

But he has 6 WC goals, so you are picking one game that suits to have what you class a fair debate?

I know you love to ask everyone else their opinion on all things, but whats your honest opinion all things said and done on Kane (Norway aside)

I think it would be a big risk to not start Kane vs Argentina. No-one has his eye for a pass in the team.
I also don't want him to be dropping deep to get teh ball and want th Engalnd midfield to be bolstered so that there's the needed mix of runners and passers to get maximum out of Kane much closer to the box. There's a big debate to be had on whether we dropped the ball in not taking MGW, Palmer and Wharton and perhaps Kane (and potentially the wingers) are now all suffering a bit because of their absences.

I would also be against him re-joining Spurs; it would destroy his legacy imo given our current state.

Very

Last season was one of the hardest watches quality (or lack of) I have known

I have no doubt that the lesser teams have got better, but the better teams are undoubtedly getting worse. I would also argue the bang for buck in terms of quality versus spend is really poor. Chelsea, United, Liverpool for example should be much much better given their spending, regardless

The PL is a dreadful watch

Disagree completely. Look at the qualifiers from the CL groups. The PL has never been stronger, that includes the lesser teams and the top teams.

The reason why the games are becoming less good to watch is because the defensive organisation is so good.

The reason I switch off or change over from PL games has nothing whatsoever to do with defensive brilliance. The lack of genuine quality and star quality in the league is shocking. The fact that European football in all has dropped like a stone and we are still better than other leagues changes nothing for me. The quality on show, in general, is utterly turgid

The CL final.....a showcase of the PL and the style of football.....embarrassing come the end

Logic would say that England need Kane's class on the ball. I think what we might be seeing is a stylistic situation where Kane against Croatia and Norway can get close to 40 touches. However, against Mexico and Ghana he's down around 20 touches. So Tuchel is scratching his head as to what he can do to get Kane on the ball more. He knows Harry will do what needs to be done in front of goal but he is probably gently encouraging him to show more and get involved more. Sometimes that is as subtle as just moving 5-10 yards and being in a position to receive the ball. Harry is not always doing that, but he is 32 and it's incredibly hot in places like Miami.

As your mate says, it's a dilemma for Tuchel whether to take off a weary Kane in second halves and put on guys like Watkins. The younger guys will inevitably contribute more in the game but will they hit the onion bag in a key moment? That is not a given.

One thing for sure though, Bellingham has well and truly taken over as the England talisman. As people know, I'm a massive fan of Hendo's captaincy and seen bigger captains than Kane on the pitch for England over the years. I was never sure it was the best appointment to make Harry into a captain. We have bigger leaders on the pitch. We always have had for England. Walker was definitely one and love him or hate him but Rice is a real leader in today's England team.

Spurs should be the exception to the turgid style of play most will adopt this season. It will probably count against us a fair bit. But we are going to be fun to watch again.

I actually hope we are on the leading edge for once (instead of trying to catch up and implementing after the peak). Football goes through these cycles, false 9, pressing, this anti-christ football brickshow. Last season hopefully was the pinnacle of this cycle of anti-football, the rules will get altered to combat it (have seen that been touted already).

The teams that benefit in the cycles are the ones early to adopt the next meta, hopefully RDZ helps us lead out of this, and we get the benefit for a while.

The quality of football across the board has dropped. There are fewer flair players around, less improvisation and more mechanised play. There is more focus now on g/a and subtle play play is much less appreciated than it was.
