Nice. Will be happy for him, hope he can continue this form. I have ****ged him off loads, so good on him and shame on me. (TBH I thought he did some awful things)
Anyway, Sterling v Rose on Sunday. I am sh*tting myself.
Gibbs is very good. Baines, Shaw, Gibbs. England are not short of quality in this position, and that's not including Ashley Cole.

I think considering how poor he has been at times it's not unjust to criticize him, I have done lots and that's because often he's not played with the competence/maturity that we know he's capable of. Often the moments of madness have really cost us ie That Hutton challenge towards the end of maybe two seasons ago springing to mind....But obviously those things have been learning experiences and it's great to see him doing well, maybe it's the added competition or maybe it's the new manager/coaches - who knows, but it's a good start to the season from him and hopefully it'll continue.

Nah, will probably be Chambers. Saw one journo claiming he should get picked now because he's going to get really good in the future.
He had some sounds views on certain other players though, like Wheelchair. You're getting too old to be promising, time to actually deliver.

90% of this board ****ged him off at every opportunity and wanted him gone asap.....instead he continues being first choice, plays well in both games and gets an international call up.
I'm not saying that Poch won't work some kind of magic on Rose, he has done with other players.
But suggesting people were wrong on the basis of getting repeatedly skinned by Stewart Downing, having a good match against QPR and getting a call up to one of the world's worst international squads is a little premature at best.

I didn't say anyone was wrong as the jury is still out (personally i've always rated him). I just think they way things are turning out so far is a sharp contrast to what most thought would happen. Flogged to some bottom half prem team is what most said.

He was very poor against West Ham, and the defence we relatively untested against QPR. The England national team is championship level these days, so no real marker.
I'm happy to be proved wrong (like with Kane), but I just don't see a player in Rose, plus I really dislike his temperament.

Every Full back is going to get beaten at times. Rose is still learning. He has a lot of upside to his game. Im not forgiving him for letting Downing turn him inside but I still believe he has the talent. When Ashely Cole first gut in the Scum side his defending left a lot to be desired. But as the time went past he became very good defensively. I think Poch can do that for Rose.

He hasn't proved himself yet as there's a long way to go this season.
As I've said, I'm happy to see Rose doing well but being called in to the England squad really isn't an indicator of much these days, I hope you get the smugness you deserve but it's not earnt yet!
