Danny Rose

I understand that but you can’t claim to only have a professional relationship with the game and then bemoan the lack of romance.

But he was just saying to him Wembley is no longer a ‘special’ place where cup finals and England internationals are normally just played. Due to Spurs using it as the home ground.
I think some have got an ongoing ‘thing’ with Rose.

i agree. He is a shadow of what he was for 12 months, he needs to keep his mouth shut and try and reclaim a place as a starter for us. I do not believe he will do though. He has been here for more then 10 years ( i know he has had a couple of loans in that time) but apart from a 12-18 month spell he has been average at best. At times it was like watching Bambi on ice last night as his opposing players left him flat footed.
Was caught on his heels a few times last night when a more alert player could have done better.

I'm confused, do we like footballers saying the saying boring soundbites (ie lying like politicians to protect people's sensitivity) or do we like footballers being normal and honest?

Or is it just when it suits us and isn't uncomfortable?
They need to be honest - that way we can tell whether they're a taco or not.

Rose is very honest.

I agree. He was rusty and all over the place last night. Dodgy touches, going forward and getting caught in the wrong position, constantly clattering in to people etc.
Like everyone I hoped he would get back to top form but it's starting to feel like that was a long, long time ago.
Just back from a longish lay off tbf.

My ‘thing’ with Rose is I’ve always thought he was and excellent and committed left back, at times one of the best in the division and I give him extra respect for doing it when giving away a lot in stature to his opponents and long before he finally got England recognition. I also spend a lot of time in ‘real life’ either singing his praises as a footballer or defending some of the decisions he make as I truly believe we are a significantly weaker without him, especially against top teams.

My other thing him about him is when he got injured he made some quite damning egotistical comments, some of which alluded to fans not supporting him or not giving him enough credit for his improvement under Poch, about how he’s not respected, nor paid enough etc. I still think he has been a huge loss over the last two years but I don’t particularly like the comments he has made about how hard it is for HIM to play at Wembley, or represent the views of the other players when he’s barely played there and is battling to try and warn his place back in the tens. As he is sensitive to fans opinions I am suggesting he think a little more about statements like these, but it’s apparent I am the sensitive one and we can leave it there.

I’m not uncomfortable about Rose saying he doesn’t like playing at Wembley, it gives me an insight into his attitude and where his focus is. I just don’t think it helps the team by giving opponents an inkling of weakness or dissatisfaction within the team.

Agreed. He needs to stop moaning or the club need to stop him giving interviews. Not only does it give oppo clubs an insight into the mood of the squad, but who gives a toss about a millionaire athlete complaining about having to play anywhere regularly? It's not like he has to play on a Sunday League pitch half a season.

Time and time again he does not just give interviews, he chooses words and phrases that are either naive or clamy. At a certain point, even his fans have to agree that it would be best for all involved if he would just not speak to the media.

No, I like him for that very reason he has a view and uses his right to air it.
Also it is yet again it’s blown out of all proportion by the anti phalanx.

Give me a player that gives a brick every day of the week over the modern vanilla players we seem to try to breed now

The characters have been taken out lf the game and it has IMO affected the passion on and off the pitch. We’re lucky to have kane as one of our own as there are no other player in our team IMO who connect with the fans on the same level

We had it with Dawson, Robinson, Van der Varte... strangely it was never with the real top players

I’ve defended him and his outbursts / loss of form quite a lot, perhaps based on his peak performance levels for us but I am started to get bored of Danny’s interviews or certainly some of the headline grabbing statements he makes:

I do wish he would just shut up and focus on playing.

I agree, he was our best left back two years ago

I do contest the idea he is now if fit though, Im a big Davies fan, and I think there is a reputation around Rose that just doesnt stand up to too much scrutiny.

Lol. Have you ever watched Liar Liar?

Yeh and he is defended as "Factual" but I fail to see how it helps the cause? Like i said in an earlier post if we the fans, the players and management just dug in rather than moan about the current situation or even highlighting the situation, realising there is reason for all this, we would be better off.

And at the end of the day, is it such a hardship to spend just a season an half at the national stadium whilst you wait for the best stadium in world football to be finished? if you say it is, I say grab a slice of reality

No not for me.

Given that it has been "yet again blown out of all proportion" I don't think it is much to ask that Rose perhaps gauge the temperature and tone it down for the good of, errr, the club? Not too much to ask I don't think. Just because you have the right, it doesn't always mean it IS right to use it.

Let’s move on and look to the Leicester game.

I've said the same about the ability of young players coming through now. They all seem to come from the same mould. Good passers and technical abilities, but absolutely zero imagination or any stand out/special qualities.
