Danny Rose

While I agree that footballers don't tend to be amongst those with the highest IQs, they do tend to know who is and isn't a good player based on training with and playing with/against them. Punditary is a very different thing as it involves being able to clearly articulate, which is something that relatively few footballers are able to do.

I would certainly trust Danny Rose's opinion of whether Barkley would or wouldn't improve the squad at Spurs over the likes of the opinions of you and Gutter Boy for example.... unless the pair of you have secretly been training with Marcus Edwards and Ross Barkley for Spurs/England?

big question mark about Lloris mental capabilities, or eyesight, then........ Why didnt warn Poch about Sissoko

Have you never heard an ex-footballer recommend their old team mates for roles in the England squad? Footballers are clearly not good judges of who is a good footballer.

Hi comments are of particularly low value because Barkley's problems are all based around decision making - something Rose has proven himself to be incredibly bad at.

Has anyone ruled out that Poch has asked his 'son' to stir it up a bit so that Levy gets his chequebook out?
Poch strikes me as somebody who plays with a straight bat. I can't imagine he's the type to do that and I wouldn't want him at our club if he was.

Someone in Poch's place who wants to force the owner to pay up needs to man the fudge up, stand in front of him and tell him straight. It should be the manager offering his job up if the owner isn't forthcoming.

Obviously this is all academic - I don't believe for second that Poch is that kind of person.

....But how much of the club's revenue is going to the new stadium? I could understand players being tinkled off at that - that effectively their wages are reduced to pay for a new stadium, whose financial benefit will be enjoyed more by other players in the future than them - the players who effectively helped pay to build it.

THFC is forever, players are all transitory no matter what value we think of them whilst they wear the shirt on the pitch.

The new stadium was IMO essential and is obviously one way of getting to the stage where we can compete with the likes of Arse, Pool, etc. going forward. If any of the current crop of players don't like or understand the logic behind that (yes, YOU, Mr Rose!!) then I would think they're either incredibly stupid, selfish or mercenary. Or a combination of those.

Either way, if one of the most important things we have going for us - squad harmony/closeness - is threatened by anyone then I think the only way to deal with it is privately behind closed doors. Going to the press in this way at this time is akin to stabbing your mates in the back AFAIC.

indeed.... but Rose and Barkley don't really have any history of friendship as such. Rose clearly just recognises him as a talented player (as is reasonably easy to see from watching him play and looking at his attributes)

Rose's decision making on the pitch is excellent. Rose is also a winner. I don't see him as the type who just wants to get mates in, maybe you see it otherwise?

I see Rose as quite dim (his recent actions showing that) and someone I have no trust in whatsoever. I don't value the opinion of someone who can be so easily misled by his agent.

So even if he was in that tiny proportion of footballers who I believe have a deeper understanding of tactics outside his small part of it (and he isn't) then I still wouldn't trust his decisions.

Danny Rose is dead to Pochettino and Levy. Neither will tolerate this type of behaviour.

Yeah of course I agree that the stadium is a good move for the club.

But I don't think it makes a player stupid, selfish or mercenary to feel frustrated that they effectively have to pay for a stadium that they won't then reap the financial benefit from.

Totally agree that what Rose has done is unforgivable though, and I hope he rots in reserves until he offers a genuine apology.

The BBC sport pundits have their say on who is going to win/finish top 4 today.
Almost everyone one them say each of the top 6 see light in quality players in certain areas.
A lot of money has been spent, but not a lot of quality or players have been bought.

Stories are Conte is unhappy at Chelsea not signing enough, Jose is still looking for players. Arsenal and Liverpool are both sweating over their top players.

We haven't slipped that far, if at all, behind anyone.

The scum have swapped Lacezette for Giroud, Still have doubts over Ozil and Sanchez and could lose Chamberlain and Perez.
Chelski have swapped Morata for Costa , Bakayoko for Matic, Rudiger for Ake, shifted most of their backups out.
Pool have got Salah as a backup for Mane, but have lost Leiva who seemed to fill in a lot of gaps for them over a season

Utd and City have both strengthened a lot, but there are still questions over City's defence

Rose is a massive body blow but he wasnt fit anyway, hasnt played since Jan. IF we could get in 4 bodies, New RB, Barkley, Sessengnon, New 3rd Keeper then id say we should still be able to hold our own

Fine him two weeks of wages, i think it works out to £120k .... them tell him he has a monthly pay rise of 10k For a year.

I have know idea of how much he gets paid but a lot of fans who keep having a go at saying our players are paid to little have mentioned 30,000 pounds a week not 60,000, not that i believe it but i have seen that said as a reason to say Levy is a skinflint.

This has come up so many times as a theory and it would never be the case.

Poch knows the party line and he is all for it and wants to build an organic beast.

As I said yesterday my mates an agent and Poch has Veto'd more deals than levy

He is let's not make any qualms about it. But he is successful doing it that way.

Rose can go as with anyone but as always it will be on Levys terms.

Modric you want to go Chelsea .... nah you can take a seat.

Levy obviously held a gun to rose' head when he forced/ convinced him to sign a new contract.

Danny you know this is north London and not south London ....

Lets actually look at Danny Rose time line:

- Middle of road player not finding his way, looking average and on his way out

- Two good seasons under Poch - Rewarded with a new contract

- Half a good season - Expects a pay hike

So he was rewarded for his performances in the first instance, has he done enough for another bumper rise?

What's he said that's incorrect?

Seriously?

It's pretty much what Spurs fans have been saying all summer.

If it takes one player to break rank to get it all sorted so be it.

He may or may not be right about what he said, however running to the press and shouting his mouth off was WRONG and i think most reasonable folks who agree with that. If he was unhappy here and wanted out put in a fudging transfer request not run telling tales to the gutter press. And has for what Spurs fans have been saying all summer well that's a red herring, most fans who i know and have spoken too think Rose is a dingdonghead for doing what he did.

You left out the fact that over the last 4 seasons he has missed 60 premership games ( mostly through injurys) so he is a risk on that front as well.
