Daniel Levy - Chairman

That’s not true.... if ENIC diluted their holding by (say 20%) to have funds injected to Spurs by an investor it would do the very opposite of hurting Spurs. The inheritance for Daniel and Joe’s children may reduce a little however.

Thats what I mean, the decision would have to be made by someone it would hurt.

Something quite interesting is that we had no debt when ENIC took over and now have over £800million’s worth of it. Should the stadium really have even cost that much?
I’m not sure. I’m no expert on that size of capital projects.
It’s done now and we have to manage the debt as best as we can.
COVID though blew a big hole in Levy’s revised plan’s I would have thought!

ENIC don't need to apologise to us because the decisions are nothing to do with us, we are the customers, we can vote with our wallets.

They do annoy me, because their behaviour is illogical, ENIC took over a bad football club, we are now a good football club (albeit with a major squad issue right now), ENIC are responsible for everything that has happened at the club during their ownership, I don't agree with all of it (not that my agreement matters one bit), but it has overwhelmingly been more good than bad.

I've given a lot of money to Spurs over the years, but I've always been aware that what I received was a product, not a job, I don't get to have a say on policy, my powers over them are only attention and money.

Each to their own of course. I mean this in the nicest possible way, but I do wonder what led some of you to football and spurs in particular in the first place. I don’t understand how fans can be so dispassionate about the way the owners operate and run the club in one way but still be such a die hard fan when it comes to watching the games and wanting the team to be successful, the two viewpoints just seem incompatible for me but we all see things differently.

I think you really underestimate the value and power that the fans have (not sure if it’s intentional or subconsciously). They have backtracked largely because of public (fan) disapproval on two huge business and football decisions in less than 12 months. And it’s usually fan power that leads to managers getting sacked (when fans are actually allowed in the grounds), when fans stop going owners get fidgety because it hurts them financially with less merchandise sales etc. A lot of people compare football to a business but it’s really not a like for like comparison. As I’ve said above it’s usually fan disapproval or disgruntlement that often leads to managers losing their jobs. If people want to treat football like any other business then why not go and support Amazon or Tesla?

I don’t have a strong opinion either way about the trust. I think they can and do offer a platform for supporters to voice their opinion among things. Otherwise the owners would just do whatever the hell they want all the time with no recourse. That would probably suit a lot of people on here but some of us want the club to, at the very least be answerable. And just to be clear, I don’t want them gone, but I want them to do better. I disagree they are largely responsible for where we are today. They are of course partly responsible and deserve great credit for that. But I don’t think we got to the CL final because of our transfer policy, we got there in spite of it.

I'm a Spurs fan because my best two friends when I was 7 years old were already Spurs fans, I copied them. Does anybody run a proper comparison of available options when picking a sports team to associate with?

I'm not really die hard, I watch the games and enjoy seeing us win, I try to keep any emotions raised within the sandbox to which they relate.

You are right on a lot of points about what fans can influence, I think it's wrong and in some cases counterintuitive to the club being successful.

I don't compare football to a business, I think football is a business.

I do similarly support Apple and Nintendo, I'm also a massive fan of Coca-Cola, to the detriment of my own personal health, I don't buy every product they sell though or expect to have any influence over future ones.

The club is a business, they are answerable to their ownership. Fans of course have consumer protections for purchased goods and services, that's where the line should be for me. People with no formal qualification or experience are not relevant in billion dollar business imo.

I'd like them to do better too, but I'm happy with the methods and the intent.

Being run as a business is not the issue. The issue is who is doing the running. A new owner may gives us a more proactive and decisive chairman than Don Levy.

The business side been run reasonably well, the football side much less so. I'd say it's been mismanaged to a great extent to be completely honest but I know you will disagree with me on that. [emoji28]

Better the devil you know sometimes! Levy isnt perfect, but there's far worse

I'd give him close to 10/10 for his running of the business side of things, but maybe 5/10 from the football side. My main gripe on the football side is that we take far too long to shift deadwood

Kroenke, the Glaziers, the dildo brothers. Who else rank as worse owners than ENIC in the PL?

Mike Ashley? Everton have dawdled on stadium and stagnated as a club over 20-30 years, Leeds went down so probably can include them as run worse, plus probably a whole host of the other owners who you dont hear much about.

Put it another way around, which clubs have been run better? Leicester are well run, errrr there arent many clubs which are clearly run better

yeah its only upwards from here. completed stadium then covid... cascading effects on sponsorships, corporate boxes, hospitality (beer!) ... ESL or not, Spurs are on the rise.

If we had a director of football we would maximise our spending potential.

Loaning out youth players so we could get a better gauge of their standard, if good enough we save money on signings and if not you can usually sell on for a bit of money.

Bringing through a couple of youngsters a year would make the ones with more ability sign pro contracts rather then move elsewhere for a pathway to the first team.

I think the future is quite bright.

I think you massively overestimate fan power.

If City and Chelsea hadn't dropped out, we'd still be going ahead. Don't kid yourself that Levy would have ruined our club over a pang of conscience or the will of customers that know nothing of running such a business.

Mike Ashley has invested way more of his own money in Saudi Sportswashing Machine than ENIC have in Spurs.
Everton’s owners same.
Leeds’ latest owners same.
And Aston Villa’s
And Leicester’s
And Sheff Utd’s
And Brighton’s
And Liverpool’s
And Fulham’s
And Palace’s
And Wolves’
And that’s before you consider the real extremes of Emirates Marketing Project and Chelsea.

Most owners want their club to do as well as possible, our owners want to make as much money as possible (along with Man Utd’s, Arsenal’s and West Ham’s).

The fact that you call us ‘customers’ says it all.

And yet ENIC/Levy has us in a much better position than all those clubs bar Liverpool, Chelsea and City.
