Coronavirus

I guess one man's underfunding is another man's overuse. But when the country's most unhealthy are the same ones who make the smallest contribution, something's going to give.

Don't worry your fit and healthy lifestyle will probably mean you live well into your 90s. Only problem dementia will probably kick in. You'll have to pay towards your care for a bit. Then you'll hit the limit and the rest of us will have to contribute towards it. Your family won't be bankrupted though.

fudging bbc

Scientists have said that without more restrictions, the UK is facing a substantial wave of Omicron in January - and the number of deaths from the variant by April could range from 25,000 to 75,000 depending on how well vaccines perform.

No they didn't. They said assuming it had the same severity as delta it would do that. All evidence points to it being far milder.

I swear they want us to lockdown for no reason.

For what? Hospital numbers have been roughly the same for 4 months so it won't alleviate any pressure on the nhs. Suppressing a wave for 2 weeks is pointless because 2 weeks after that we will be in the exact same position.

I don't disagree with your point.

But the media and the NHS fan boys want a lockdown this and every winter.

I was in worthing hospital Saturday morning spent 2 hours there moving about(I'm private, but still have a few visits to worthing) was like a ghost town. Quietest I have ever seen a hospital.

Yep my money is a fire break 2 week lockdown.

I don’t think they will interfere with Christmas too much, but I reckon they’ll extend schools being closed for the holidays into January. We had a few communications from the Department of Education last week about GCSE and A Level exams which indicated they were beginning to think there would be significant disruption again.

If there is any sense it will be scrapping the 10 day isolation. Only take time off work if you are too sick to. Then get back as soon as you are feeling better. No testing required.
Don't go to hospital unless you really need to.

The sensible thing would be to just abandon all testing, except for cases of severe symptoms, so we know how best to treat them

How is it possible - hope it stays that way and that this passes in your household quickly and painlessly.

My best mate’s daughter had it a few weeks ago. He also has a son and a wife. No one else in the family caught it. If you think about it you probably come into contact with someone who has it on almost a daily basis. Granted not the same as sharing a house with someone with the virus but it’s possibly to avoid it somehow.

Distraction from the party poopstorm.
The real question is what the opposition are gaining from it? I know it looks a bit heartless to go against it when it could be harmful, but it is looking like this a big over reaction.

If someone in your household has it, I think there's only something like a 30% chance you'd get it. Yet you can also catch it walking past some in Tesco. It's pretty unpredictable, I guess all down to natural immunity and previous exposure levels.

Distraction? It brings it more in focus. Everyone and their dog will be complaining how do they expect us to lockdown when they have parties. Even their core voters will be tinkled.

10 day isolation in Scotland if someone in your household has it. Doesn't matter if you test negative, you have to isolate.
So a family of two parents and three kids could be isolating for seven weeks.
