Coronavirus

The government needs to quarantine everyone coming in for the foreseeable. Otherwise there will be another lock down. And all their good work on the vaccines, and the sacrifices in the previous lockdowns will be for nothing.

I think you know that isn’t going to happen. You could write the UK government’s quarantine plan 2020 to 2021 on the back of an envelope. In fact with people planning their summer holidays to any ‘green zoned’ country and a current daily case tally of >3000, I can’t see any other scenario than the UK experiencing a forth wave by mid summer.

It's important to mention that the efficacy of the vaccines against the SA variant is good for severe disease. Its just low for mild disease. And I would suggest transmission. But with where we are for vaccination I don't think the UK needs to worry.

People have had a year of basically taking the tinkle work wise and when they are asked to get back to some form of normality the unions say they might strike, cretins

A return to normal opening hours for job centres puts users and staff "in harm's way", a union is warning.

Job centres went back to their pre-lockdown hours yesterday, having previously been cut to 10am to 2pm.

The PCS union says it will not rule out strike action, arguing the extension should be put back until Covid vaccines are "fully rolled out".

It says staff have dealt successfully with benefits claimants via video link during the pandemic and says "the vast bulk of the interviews now expected to be done face-to-face can still be carried out remotely".

General Secretary Mark Serwotka says: "This reckless move by ministers is wholly unnecessary and risks putting both claimants and job centre staff in harm's way."

But the government says putting opening hours back to the normal 9am-5pm will help job centres give "vital support to the most vulnerable" in society. And a spokesman says Covid safety is taken "extremely seriously".

Lazy clams. They should all become teachers.
