Coronavirus

They eat at their desks and they exercise at home - that's better than we currently have. Teacher numbers aren't an issue - each class of 30 has a teacher and an assistant.

Teachers will just have to suck it up - we're all in this together remember? Even if some refuse it will at least give the govt a short list of those who need to be looking for new careers once this is over.

It’s a good job the kids are back at School. Its a good thing, low risk and is the start for all this to go back normal.

Was relatively support of the Gov at the start of this given the issues they faced, however they have turned into a shambles With the schools being the latest one.

They should be telling schools they are opening in sept (if they are not able to too do so now) and work back from there - none of this possibly

The leadership is weak and they are allowing every decision to be undermined by being half arsed and not thought through.

Schools
14 day isolation
Track and track
2m social distancing

The damage being done to Health/jobs/kids/ecc is now way beyond the virus could have ever done.

And they are still using the imperial modelling despite it being horribly wrong.

The school thing is clearly political now but getting up to year 1 and year 6 back is not going to be a massive jump start for the economy. It might be huge in terms of getting the nations mindset geared towards normality though.

I don't really understand how the government could screw things up so badly when the UK had the advantage of behind behind the curve of almost every single country in Europe. Just watch and learn what the majority are doing (with one or two exceptions where necessary for the UK), Then you can say look we are following the preferred approach and if brick hits the fan then you have an excuse. No early lockdown, no face masks, no large events, close schools sooner, stop all flights apart from repatriation and 2 week quarantine for those arriving. Every other country pretty much did those things except us. We waited and now those countries are all open for business again while we are still introducing the quarantine and debating whether there is scientific evidence for masks or not.

the attitude of English exceptionalism that vote leave mined so successfully, "we are superior to those foreigns, we can combat micro organisms through stiff upper lip and blitz spirit"

And why is the testing and tracing not happening? All guff - best in the world - and no delivery.

Schools need access to fast tests, to know the local and national government have an effective plan that will keep everyone safe within reason. The government needed to work with schools far far earlier and plan a safe return.

Here we are, the first nation to develop a test for the virus. A nation with more labs and biotech than almost any other country. Yet other nations are open and we're seemingly in limbo without any clarity from our government.

Which is precisely what we should have done. Instead we've shut the economy under pressure from Professor "We're all going to die" and the press who failed to background check him.

How come there is never a bill to pay when the government spends billions on illegal foreign wars. They never have any trouble finding the money to pay for that and don't make the middle classes pay more tax to fund it either

A mere pittance by comparison.

I assume you're referring to the Iraq war as something you believe to be illegal. If so, that cost well under £10Bn. The various measures of socialising employment cost, small bus, etc is about £40Bn per month.

Boris could come and take a dump in some of your front gardens and you will celebrate him for offering free fertiliser.

Not sure why it keeps needing to be pointed out, but Germany is also run by a centre right government, and with a population 20 MILLION more people, and the UK has 4 times the death rate. FOUR. TIMES. That's not bad luck, that's clusterf*ck.
