Terrible press conference, and then I read this feature which presents some of it in a very different light and context. I remember being particularly angry in Jan that he was the only one speaking and that no-one else (our sporting director paramount in this) was speaking to back him up.

Has he been less than great? Yes. Have there been issues with naivety? Yes. Has he had to deal with a brickload of other crap which frankly isn't right? Yes!!!!

I'm afraid Ange has brought a lot of it on himself. As somebody said in another thread the situation is becoming more and more toxic. I think he needs to go and soon.

The dialectic here is that the club have not offered any real support beyond him still being here. The silence has been deafening. I raised this in January.

As for 'on himself', yes indeed, at this point his walls are rapidly crumbling and he is making some desperate choices (the ear thing was so poor). I think any human being could only be pummeled so many times without their emotions shouting back through the stress and fatigue. I am aware you and I disagree on the acceptability of this.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw a PL club represented in such an interview by someone who wasn’t a manager or a player.

I always find your posts very originally insightful Steff.

Indeed I think Pocg is resigned to the inevitable. I think it isn’t necessarily all his fault. But there comes a point where the atmosphere around the club changes.


We don’t have to be privy to the ins and outs of the dressing room to feel that.

Instead, we can ask if fans going to the he are already resigned to us getting beat.

If you can feel that atmosphere- then the rest doesn’t matter.

I like Post as a bloke. But do I have confidence in him leading a further transfer window, and the first few matches of next season?

No - I do not.

There is something rotten at the club .... It has been this way since early 2019, champions league final aside, and j am just sick of it...

Wingers who can't beat a player, defenders who can't defend, attackers who can't score, no leadership, no team ethic and a manager who I have now lost faith with...

I know other people on this forum have pointed out that there is the argument that our injury crisis is a result of the demanding tactics we play under Postecoglou

I have no way of saying that is true or not. It could be a legitimate coincidence.

But it is something I feel could be true.

And maybe we need to ask ourselves if we are unhappy with 14th place after 30 games

If we are - we need to ask ourselves whether we feel the injuries are part of it

If we feel the injuries are part of it then

A) is the injury crisis down to poor luck and bad enough that we would expect to finish just above the relegation zome

OR

B) Might the injuries be self inflicted? Or - at least 1 might we feel the injury crisis is bad enough to justify a 14th place position?

If you answer yes to the former you can forgive Ange

If you answer yes to later. Then we need to examine Ange’s capacity to lead our club.

For me I agree that the abuse should not be personal. Love ange or hate him - he came to Spurs because he genuinely dreamed of leading us to success.

Who can begrudge someone of that?
At same time. Levy has said he we will not change or transfer policies.
As such - without higher level changes - our only chance of progress is to change the bloke who interacts with the players 60+ hours a week - designates every training exercise and chooses our team selection every week

Either way - I personally feel despite any kind of circumstance we have under performed to an unacceptable degree

If the chairman has made clear his head is will not roll - and his approach will not change

Then goodbye Ange

Just let’s let Ange depart amicably and not make excitement to manage Spurs a reason to attack his personal appearance.

Been saying for a long time i don't know why managers do so many press conferences. You have dof's and assisstants that can do some.

I would encourage people to look at Post and say that even though things might not be working out - that there was a bloke who REALLY wanted to bring success to Spurs and truly believed that he could.

I think so much more so than past managers- Post 100% unequivocally wanted to be here.

Don’t brick on a guy completely for wanting us to be successful, feeling we could be successful and thinking he could contribute to that.

That’s why I said it’s sad. I agree with the sentiments here. Winning with Autumn ‘23 Ange and if his ideals came to bear would have been glorious.

I think there is a whole spectrum of reasons why the people who want him out, want him out, and there should be space for reasonable discourse on this. I have to say though, some of it has been totally over the top and horribly personal. There’s no justification for that. It’s been nasty to see.
