Contingency planning : If Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

Bring in who you like. It won’t matter. I don’t believe there is some messianic figure out there who can bring us what we want. A manager is only one part of what makes a club successful and we don’t have the other parts in place IMO.

If we want to overachieve, we need to do something different to other clubs. For me, that’s sticking with this fella come what may for 3 seasons and see where he takes us. I’ve never been convinced he could win us anything but there aren’t many (or possibly any) managers that can. At least I can watch us now without wanting to gouge out my eyes with a rusty spoon. And Ange genuinely believes he can win us something so I’m happy to see him try.

It might be nearing the end of Ange's tenure with us, or not, let's not discuss that here - but say Ange did get the sack in the near future - who should we bring in? And why?

I personally have no clue. Iraola (is that even how you spell it?) has been mentioned a few times - but wouldn't he essentially be just another Ange?

Potter? The Luton coach from last year everyone was raving about for a bit? Alonso? Gasperini? The Ipswich coach?

If he does get sacked in the morning, I reckon our footballing operations HQ has got a few names in mind, and that we will pull someone unknown from out of the hat. But what do I know (feck all).

Thoughts?
Mason till end of Jan, then Southgate. We all know that's what will happen if Ange get's the push in the next 10 days.

I don't disagree with this. I hope he gets us out of this rut and onward, but like you, I don't really believe he's going to win anything for us (or anyone else, for that matter). But I'm pessimistic by nature.

I don’t remember such calls for unwavering support for Conte, Jose or Nuno…

Of those three, I feel sorry for Nuno, a thoroughly decent man who was shafted from entry (yes, I just wrote that )...not taken in the least bit seriously by anyone, including us IMO, and was never, ever given a chance. He was basically a placeholder for the repeated efforts to get Conte IMO. I am happy to see him enjoying some successand respect with Forest. The other two? I've done my views on them to death haven't I LOL...

Need a manager who is willing to work with the constraints of our chairman and budgets even with a stadium etc. need a manager who will work with youngsters who can perform to a level where we can make hefty profits.
I would just let Levy manage the team.

Maybe the ensuing disaster will get his egotistical head out of his arse and actually be a decent chairmen.

The key to everything is the quality of the players we recruit.
It doesn't matter if it is Ange or Potter or Pep, if we recruit poor/weak/injured players we will be sh.it, and if we recruit really well, we'll be right up there and really good.

So for me, unless Ange does something insane, it is best to focus on good recruitment, that is the key to everything.
There must be 1000 players on our radar. Some aren't good enough. Some are overpriced. Some can elevate us and are the right price. Just gotta find them.

He doesn't need to win anything. Getting us challenging for top 4 is a requirement though. This business of giving him this and next season is so arbitrary, he needs to achieve certain milestones for that to be the case.

No it isn't an arbitrary metric, those who hold that opinion do so on the basis of the evidence shown that when it works it is wonderful, and in the belief that the club will support him in the way that helps achieve consistency.

coaching is 50% part of it too

we have serious issues in tactics both in defence and in attack

ange didn't come with a team and inherited mason. he then went on to recruit jedinak and montgomery who have no top flight experience. incidentally both have Australia league experience.
