Contingency planning : If Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

I don't want Ange replaced, I want him properly supported. But If he has to go, I want him replaced with an Internet know‐it‐all, or the hindsight police. Those fudgers have it sorted.

It might be nearing the end of Ange's tenure with us, or not, let's not discuss that here - but say Ange did get the sack in the near future - who should we bring in? And why?

I personally have no clue. Iraola (is that even how you spell it?) has been mentioned a few times - but wouldn't he essentially be just another Ange?

Potter? The Luton coach from last year everyone was raving about for a bit? Alonso? Gasperini? The Ipswich coach?

If he does get sacked in the morning, I reckon our footballing operations HQ has got a few names in mind, and that we will pull someone unknown from out of the hat. But what do I know (feck all).

Thoughts?
To be honest Micky Mouse would be better

It is the Cult of Ange with some. “The underlying data is good…” :)

I’m at a loss as to who would come in. One, because I’m not sure who’d take it and two, because I can’t see an obvious candidate.

It’s a shame Poch is out of the equation because I really do think he could do great things with the this squad.
The underlying data is that his stats are worse than Jose, worse than Conte, and even worse than Nuno. For the first time in 18 years we approach Christmas in the bottom half of the table. This isn't the sort of data that please me strangely enough

So the one thing you're definitely not allowed to discuss on here is a potential new manager in case the one we have now is sacked? That's sacrilege? Jesus, it's not like Ange is reading this message board. If I'm ever in the stands, I'll obviously support the team and the manager, but I don't think discussing this on a message board makes any difference what so ever, so what's so bloody stupid or dangerous about it? I know we'd all love to put our heads in the sand and pretend we're not on a slippery slope here, but we are, and we all know how this story usually goes.

"Oh no, a bunch of nobodies discussing something Spurs-related on the internet, call the fudging police!"

I genuinely hope this thread looks ridiculous and stupid half a year or even a couple of months from now.
I'm with you, this is what forums are for. There are some members who only want to hear positive things said, but that's not facing reality. We are presently 11th, and unless you live on planet Zog you will realise this will get worse. I predict we will get knocked out of the league cup and slip to 14th, and at that stage Ange will go. Levy would be better off getting rid of him now so the incoming manager could make a few signings in January

We do score a lot of goals, and our defensive record were better when we didn't have as many injuries. So, ideally, sign a few players in January and get some people back from injury, and we can hopefully have a good tail end to the season and kick on from there.

I guess I'm just not all optimistic of that actually happening - mainly due to the reluctancy of Ange to be a bit pragmatic and flexible about how we play (it's fine that he has a philosophy, but if you want to be a successful manager in a competitive league like the PL, you simply can't play the same way against every team when its clearly not working). Also, it sounds a bit weird to me to talk about having a training regime where you expect a certain amount of injuries, and then complain about injuries.

I would love nothing more than for us to click and show consistency over a number of games, and kick on from there - I just don't see it happening anytime soon. I would be over the moon if we did though - our attacking play can be fantastic to watch. A few signings and some lads back from injuries, and we'll see. Considering how we've played over the past calendar year, I do remain pessimistic about it happening, cant deny that. Anyways - up the Spurs!

The present fool will get us relegated, is that what you want?
No he won't, you are just making stuff up, which makes you look stupid.

I think we have seen that we can play great football, and be a match for anyone, and if we can get a squad that clicks, we can challenge for trophies. The summer transfer window will be crucial.

That's because you incapable of seeing how awful Ange is. Forget my opinions if you wish, just look at the stats
Yeah, The stats show that we are the highest scoring team in the league, and before Liverpool, had the 3rd best defensive record and 2nd best goal difference. 4th best still. This at the same time as we have had around 10 players missing for half of the time. The stats also say we've only lost by more than one goal once, to the best team in the league.
Those stats tell me we ain't far from being were we want to be!

But we are brick at everything don’t you know
What’s Christmas dinner in Norway?

You're looking at win percentages. That's a nonsense to look at in isolation and here's why. On win %:

1. Bill Nic isn't in our top 10 managers (he also finished 18th in his first year)
2. Keith Burkinshaw isn't in our top 10 managers (he got us relegated)
3. Arthur Rowe isn't in our top 10 managers
4. Terry Venables isn't in our top 10 managers

Between them, they have 2 league titles, 6 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, 2 UEFA Cups and a Cup Winners Cup.

The top 10 managers, between them, have won us one FA Cup.

Stats used in isolation are a crutch for the clueless.
