Conor Gallagher

I think it is because he does all those things but will also mis-control a pass or shin it out of play, so if you are a positive person you see all the good outweighs the bad, but if you are a purist you see the bad and think "Jeez, really".

I sure a few months of training alongside Richarlison will teach Gallagher how to control the ball like prime Hoddle!

Every player does this sometimes. Bergvall for example does some really poor things yet he seems to be loved by most Spurs fans no matter what. I think maybe some people just have an irrational dislike of certain players that comes from some sort of pre conceived opinion?

We tend to have a higher tolerance with youngsters who run about a lot in the expectation that the rough diamond will become more polished with experience.

Hopefully Bergvall will push on better than Holtby did after his glimpses of promise a decade ago… wonder whatever happened to the other 2 lads in this crossbar challenge video…

The internet section of our fans aren't happy with this signing at all.

Said it before, HG, brings a tempo to the game, also has a shot on him (something we miss from midfield), PL proven, probably added somethings to his game from his time in Spain/under Simeone.

The judgement of this transfer is really if there is another to follow, get Souza, Gallagher and another (passer or attacking player) and the window looks very different from just the two of them.

Either way, he probably starts on week-end, which is always a good view of a transfer.

Bergvall is going to be a very very good player for us, I think what we need now is the mix and we def as a team need that injection of what Gallagher will give us as a leader and his energy, he also have tremendous quality on the ball despite some rubbish mentioned on social media by sock drawer tacticos.

I am expecting this to also see the door for Bentancur and Bissouma who in pecking order will IMO be shown the door in the next 6 months or sooner in Bissouma case. I think longer term its curtains for Sarr because the numbers just don't fit.

Its an absolute steal of a deal for someone we need now and will serve us well long term.

Why are Athletico getting rid?
He's a squad option for them, rather than a key starter. Also Athletico are never afraid to sell a player to fund the addition of someone new. Again they are a team more than happy to player trade to get the players they actually need.

Sarr is a tricky one. The gap between his floor and ceiling is huge: he looks a beast at his best but has too many games where he's anonymous. Personally I think his athleticism and stamina, along with decent technique, are worth persisting with. He needs coaching imho, which shouldn't be beyond our current management team.

You could have Gallagher, Bergvall, Gray, Sarr + one real level of quality addition and that still get through alot of games in a year each, if played right.

TEMPO is the word for me. I feel that one of the things we've been lacking for some years now is a degree of control in midfield. TBH, we've missed it since Eriksen left. I don't think it mattered much with Ange's system of (barely) organised chaos, but I think Frank's more measured approach is crying out for it.

While I'm a big fan of Sarr, he's a more reactive player. Bergvall and Gray are The Future, but they're not quite The Present in that respect – Bergvall is a bit too all-action while Gray isn't quite there yet, but I'm 100% sure they will be soon. I think Bentancur was bought to be that player, and he has shown flashes but never lived up to his early promise. Maddison had shades of it, but we all know what's happened to him.

Hopefully Gallagher will be that player. I haven't seen how he's done for Atletico, but he's flourished under one of the best managers in the game, which can't be a bad thing.

EDIT: I should clarify that I don't mean a deep-lying playmaker so much as one who sets the tempo of the attack. Like Eriksen did.

Think its a good signing, our M/F players are not the most consistant of players. Bissouma needs selling, Bentacur [ who i do like] has had too many injurys and sad to say it has affected him and i do not see him being the player of a season or too back. Maddison is what he has always been at his previous clubs, in some games he can control the game in others he goes missing far too often.

Players like Bergval and Grey have the ability for sure but are not ready to become the real top players yet, they still need more time to learn their skills. Sarr is another one who is far to inconsistant but may grow into a very good player but i will not lay money on that happening.

Because of that i do see Gallagher who has been a consistant signing for his previous teams, England player who does a good job. Having said all of that any signing is a gamble so lets hope he will help sort our CM out.
