Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

I just think in general, if clubs are paying that kind of money for a player, some expectations need to be set. The best way to influence games is by creating and/or scoring goals. Look at the players who have been sold for similar money, they are goalscorers, which makes it even more perplexing as to why Pogba has gone for such an over inflated fee.

which players have contributed that return in a single season though?

it's not common

he was directly involved in 25 goals (scored or assisted) in Italy last season, I think that translates well to the defensive clusterfudge that is PL defending, when you add in that he's playing with Zlatan in a unit schemed by Mourinho, as El Tel would say, he's gonna have it off

That's kind of the point, only the likes of Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez score and assist 40+ goals a season. Pogba hasn't done anything of the sort to suggest he will replicate those numbers. It's just potential.

Zlatan will get goals aginst Bournemouth and Hull but will go missing in the big games like he always does, and everyone will still fawn over him because he's Zlatan and he's a personality.

I think United requirement for a player of his ability and physicality coupled with Juve's strong bargaining position for a happy player on a long contract result in the fee

if Ronaldo, Suarez or Bale had their moves in this window they would all be £200m +

I think you could have gotten Ronaldo for close to Pogba's fee (age, time on contract, etc.), I also think you could have Griezmann for Pogba's fee.

Its an overpriced buy that as was pointed out earlier in thread, Manure can afford, my view is they feel they have no choice. Full on panic mode as they can see a Pool future where another 2 years out of CL spots and they may not get back in for another decade. Add in their wage/debt model/planning is based on CL participation, they are buying players they would never have done previously, and hired a manager no one in their board wants.

Bale has been a good signing. He's a big game player, his goals in two finals prove that, but ultimately, I'm not sure if he has been good value for money so far, maybe he has if you factor in shirt sales. He is still miles away from Messi and Ronaldo, even Suarez and Neymar ahead of him considerably.

Zidane was a once in a lifetime player. He may not have scored bags of goals, but his influence and skill were breathtaking. Not to mention his performances and goals in semi finals and finals, something Zlatan could take note from. I don't see anything to suggest the Pog will be even half the player Zidane was.
You're either joking or bitter. I hope for your sake it's the former, there's no point putting the blame on Bale.

I think Pogba is a better signing than either would be for United right now, Griezmann is going to start many games if you have Zlatan

Mourinho....the bloke is a specialist in spending...
Upsetting everyone for a season or two
Destroying the youth policy unless you include selling a player for 800k then buying him back for 93million good business

Just plays football manager on cheat mode

Got bored of doing it in normal mode after success with Porto, now wants to abuse cheat mode.

Got to say "only big clubs sign big players like this" comments, already bored of the 3rd coming of Mourinho. I always believe that money in football buys no class, he is a total clam of a man

No bitterness at all, I'd take him back tomorrow, but honestly, I don't really care about non Spurs players as long as they don't end up at Arsenal or Chelsea. Suarez and Neymar are just better than him. Take off the Spurs tinted glasses and it's quite clear. They are both scumbags and unlikeable to say the least whereas Bale is a down to earth, humble guy, but the overall play of those two is better than Bale's overall play.

The open market of purchases suggests a very different interpretation.

I'd argue that Bale is a lot more consistent than Neymar, who does really flashy things occasionally, but very often does nothing, like now in the Olympics. That alone for me makes Bale a better player. He's also a lot stronger, more pace, more power, defensively a lot better, works harder, a lot stronger in the air. Not much left for Neymar the excel at. Just flair and technique.

And diving. And whining like a little bitch.

just saw a facebook post that said pogba is around 18% of man utd's turnover. which is the equivalent of crystal palace spending £15m on one player.

Neymar has scored more than Bale in the last couple of years. Granted Bale is stronger and faster, but Neymar's first touch is better and is more skillful.

We got a phenomenal deal for Bale partly due to Levy's negotiation skills, him and Neymar would go for similar fees if they were both to be sold tomorrow. Suarez would probably go for less money but that's only down to him being a few years older, he's the 4th best player in the world after Messi, Ronaldo and Iniesta IMO.
