Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

You would struggle to do what we have done there because of the railway line
They would need to use more of the footprint too, which they actually do have

Also it's not london. They're not going to get the same corporate revenue. Or even season ticket value. They may sell more, but won't earn as much. So i doubt they'd spend what we did on a new stadium. The only ones that might would be chelsea.

Casemiro would definitely improve them right now. (they are bottom of the table)

Yes but £60m and £360k wages? Say they get 3 good seasons out of him (he's 31 in feb). That's £38m a season. Cause there will be no sell on. On those wages they'd probably have to pay him to leave.

For comparrison we pay £10-15m for kane a season.
Haaland city will either sell for a profit or extend his contract. So it's only really his wages they are worried about. £20m a season.

It's insane.

Panic buy and desperate times. He will do a job for them but there are other players who could have done that same job for half the price and would be younger.

He's a good player no doubt. But he can't do it alone and if the others can't be arsed why would he? Think he's just happy to get a nice little retirement cheque.

It is. They're desperate. Unfortunately right now this desperation may lead to a very good signing. But that's to be expected with their resources.

The lack of long term planning and need for desperate measures will probably cause some problems down the line, that's always good.

Caicedo? Midfielder at Brighton would be a better buy, been very impressed with him each game I've seen.
Think there are quite a few signings they could make that wouldn’t break the bank and still be a massive upgrade on what they have now. They are looking to smash it out of the park on every signing, getting a potential superstar in, what they need now though are players who will improve them immediately. Kind of like we did with PEH, they can always buy someone else in a year or two once the ship is steadied.

... a top class striker is what is needed and that is always going to be a problem at our club as the financial restraints will always stop us getting the best ...

It's amazing what Ferguson did on a shoe-string budget.

At the time, it was if compared to the big Spanish and Italian clubs.

He’s talked about his pursuits of Maldini and Raul previously but United couldn’t get anywhere near their wages, nor could they raise a fee that wouldn’t be easily matched by the continental giants of the time.

It obviously changed later on as the PL became richer.

This has them the richest in the world in 1997/98.

BBC also has them the richest in 97/98

The letter is obviously written in 97. Winning the cl may have bumped them a bit.

That’s always been a huge problem. They see themselves as the club that they were, not the club that they are. They feel compelled to sign big money players to appease the supporters rather than players who can do the job. If they followed the route employed by clubs like Brentford or Brighton, they could sign an excellent player that doesn’t break the bank but that will come in, do a good job for the team and improve the current level.

As for Caicedo, why would he want to make the move right now?

You mean knock it down and build a new stadium?
Something like that. But there's a lot more land around it that could be used, bought up, etc.

There is the railway line to one side, and the canal to the other, but we've seen solutions to that sort of thing elsewhere.

I was thinking more NWHL with a 90k capacity.

They could twist it. Their season tickets are what £500 a season for the cheapest. An extra 18k a game means an extra £10-12m in revenue a season. Can't see them boosting corporate that much. Would it be worth it?

£70m for a 30 year old!!!

Desperate?!?

Will be interesting to see how he does in an average team in a more competitive league

It's a huge fee for what will be small gains, yeh he will improve them but not to that tune. It's a been knocked back all summer desperate bid with Real also rightfully cashing in later in his career.
