Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

I agree, he has literally had shirt buttons to try and get by on hahahahaha

What a total helmet

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has told friends he would have quit any other club by now. The Portuguese is said to be deeply frustrated by what he sees as a lack of backing from vice-chairman Ed Woodward. (Mirror)

They spent £80M this summer - how has he managed to make it look like he has had no backing. By all accounts the board have said we will back you we just don't want to play loads for 29 year olds, and he couldn't go out and find any young players he wants.

Buzz cut next followed by breakdown.

The board and Woodward hired Mourinho. Knowing what he is and how he operates. The board and Woodward kept Mourinho. Knowing what he is and how he operates. If they at any point didn't know that's just pure incompetence.

Coming out of last season they had two fairly good options. Sack Mourinho, bring in a manager or a DoF and a manager/head coach to move the club in the direction they want. Or back Mourinho giving him what he wanted.

They should know that giving Mourinho good players that he doesn't like for his system is a good way to get into trouble. They choose this kind of middle way. Knowing that some personal working relationships were already frayed. Knowing that with any run of 2-3 poor results in a row at any time during the first 3-4 months of the season would bring a lot of turmoil and a potential rupture in already frayed relationships.

Not knowing any of the above I point out that they know is pure incompetence. Gambling that a small poor run wouldn't come is naive. Thinking that Mourinho could change or that they could manage Mourinho out of this is deluded.

This is on Woodward and the board. They had two good options, both would have been somewhat unpopular with some fans or the owners. But both would be good. Choosing what they did is pure gambling, hoping for a lucky run of results, and will most likely see them scrambling at some point this season.

I agree.
They are only keeping Jose and signing the pogbas and sanches because it keeps them in the headlines.
Headlines create revenue.

In this market, compared to their peers, spending 80m is tinkling into the wind.

If Jose is given the right resources he thrives, if you can’t afford it, don’t hire him, same for Pep, Conte and Klopp.
