It seems we are trying to buy from what I’m reading pretty much everywhere but the season is literally just finished now with internationals over
 
I see Eriksen in a different light. I know he played a lot of matches this season. I know he is a good playmaker although his corners need serious Improvement. However I read his interview and I got irritated by him and the insinuation that he will only accept to stay at Spurs if certain clubs don't come for him. That gives me the impression that he is 'managing' us. I don't know who his agent is. I personally would sell such a player regardless of how important they are. Of course I would only do so if I had identified replacements.

I think it is key we move on and make clear to incomings that they are wanted regardless. Christian will have to fight for the shirt IMO. And he should. And if it pushes him a level, plus if he gets the rest, then win-win.

The European media is packed full of reactions to Paul Pogba’s comments at the weekend. The midfielder made it very clear he wants to leave Manchester United this summer, and that’s set everyone off on tangents.

Spanish newspaper AS has a little snippet about what all of this means for Christian Eriksen. The Tottenham player has already sent out something of a come-and-get-me-plea to Real Madrid himself, but there’s no way the club will sign both him and Pogba.

It’s been claimed repeatedly that Pogba is Zinedine Zidane’s preference over the Spurs man, despite others at Madrid believing the Denmark international may be a better option.

AS say Eriksen is an ‘obvious victim’ of the Pogna situation, and they explain he’s now ‘desperate’ about his future. According to the claims, the 27 year old Tottenham player already had a personal agreement with Real Madrid and was just waiting for them to make a move over the transfer.

That now looks unlikely so Eriksen is left worrying about his own future with Spurs rather than dreaming about a Madrid transfer.
 
Seems to me that Eriksen needs to sign an improved contract with us that has a RM £50m+ clause - if madrid come with a bid above x amount we'll let him go. The alternative is to run down his contract and be the villian. Not sure he'll want that. Has to be a middle path.

You call it being the "villain" he will call it honouring the contract he signed, and I would have to agree with him.

Make it £80m with an inflation clause (tied to top flight transfer fees) and that seems fair
 
I’d still get rid. We need some changes, he’s one of the obvious ones due to his contract situation, we could get a decent amount for him, and we’re very obviously his second choice.
