Professional athletes will play for anyone if the monies right, what they did as a kid means nothing. I would have signed for Woolwich in a heartbeat.
Same.
And brought the system down from within.

Well it did for him because that's where he wants to go.

Typical gooner responseNo I was just a kid who wanted to be a profesional footballer and grew up in a time when people weren't so extreme in their views on the game.
It is a good article. A new stadium is at very minimum going to be 5 years away. Can easily see it being 10. Even Man Utd could sort out Old Trafford in less time due to lack of nimby’s near the ground and an easier site to work on.
What will be interesting in terms of Chelsea finances is if they drop out of the champions league especially if it’s for more than a season.
I think that it would definitely be more than 5 years. They need to go through planning again, even if they stick with the plans, there will be objections and appeals. I think that under the old plans, they were due to spend 3 years at Wembley whilst the new stadium was being built. It is a really difficult site, so you could easily seeing it being more than that. Ours over run and that was despite having none of the access problems that they have and being able to start the ground works on part of the stadium a year before we left WHL. They'll need to finance it too, and their starting position for that isn't anywhere near as good as ours.
Think they might move and redevelop stamford bridge as luxury flats. Will need a cpo for the pitch owners though if they don't agree. Not sure it would go through after all the government talk after the esl.
They've missed out on two sites that they were interested in Battersea Power Station and Earls Court. I'm not sure what other large brownfield sites there are in West London that they could go for. There was talk of QPR going to White City, is that still undeveloped?
I'd be surprised if the CPO would agree to them moving far.
Yep seems the developers for the earls court site have gone back to the drawing board.

Wikipedia says that the site was sold for £425m in 2019. It would be an expensive option but would definitely be easier than building on the current site. I presume that there would be a lot of local opposition to them moving to Earls Court. I hope that they can't find anywhere in West London and are forced to move to Heathrow or Slough.
Whatever they build and my assumption is it is most likely to be on their current site is I hope they don’t end up with a retractable roof. If they do something similar to Lille in that location and manage to get permission for a number of events then that could be a game changer.
Lille have a stadium where the roof can close and one half of the pitch goes on top of the other half making a smaller indoor arena on one half. To host concerts, basketball etc…
Levy buys it and relocates Archway Steel there. If Levy is as smart as we think he is - and Lewis as wealthy - then ENIC should buy the Earl's Court site. Or invest sufficiently to have a big say in site development.
Then turn it into an artist's paradise, with community centres, affordable housing, and farmer's markets every Saturday and Sunday. Balloon animals and face painting for the kids.
All about investment protection for N17.

Yes. A roof means you have to have a massive foundation and structural support that takes up a lot more space than a stadium without a retractable roof.I think that something complicated like that would be very difficult to build on the current site. The plans that were approved before took up pretty much the whole site, as it was
