Cheatski are still scum

I tipped Chelsea for the league, not because of the team but because of Jose and what the other teams were doing.
If you look at that team they are an oldish team that needs some serious investment, especially at the back. I thought he could get them through one more season because to be honest I wasn't that impressed with anyone else's transfer business.
Maybe the strain of winning last year has caught up with them a bit more than Jose (and me) expected.

Maybe they could use one of the 30+ players they have on loan to inject some youth in to their squad? They only have themselves to blame if their squads ageing, it's not like they don't buy players, they have about 60 senior players they can call on at the start of the season, if they're left with an old squad they fudged up the decision making process.

If they have changed the rule then you bet there'll something like this,
Sub section 34, clause e, paragraph 29,unless it's Tottenham, in which case we don't let them in.

Haven't they changed the rule so that we'd get in if this situation happened again?
UEFA have changed the rule so that a maximum of 5 teams from 1 nation can qualify for the CL, so the sexy thing to happen would be us to finish 4th but then Chavski win the CL + Liverpool win the EL and take our CL spot!

Probably the worst I've felt because of football was that Chelsea CL final. The only slight crumb of comfort I have is that I never saw them lift the trophy, and I still haven't to this day. The scenario you have described above would actually top that in terms of brickyness.

I'd have him nailed on for PSG, but they appear to finally be showing their massive superiority to the rest of the league.

Fair point. I'm not sure if his ego would allow him to work in one of the smaller leagues. If he wins the leage in England, Spain, Italy and Germany he will have cemented his legendary status as a manager. The history books will show such success but will forget the mess he has left each and every one of those teams in.

Exclusive: Roman Abramovich must fork out world record sum to sack Jose Mourinho

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH faces a world record £37.5m pay-out if he decides to sack Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea manager is on a contract worth over £10m a year at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese coach has the rest of this season and three more years on his deal, which was signed in the summer.

Even for the billionaire Russian, paying up Mourinho's contract is a staggering figure.

Abramovich has splashed out big sums before to get rid of managers, £12.6m to Brazilian flop Luiz Felipe Scolari, Andre Villas-Boas was awarded £12m - although he waived some of it when he landed the Tottenham job - and Carlo Ancelotti £6m as he had a year left on his contract.

After the 3-1 home defeat by Southampton, Mourinho said he would quit Chelsea if the players don't back him. And on Monday the club insisted they were fully behind him.

Skipper John Terry, who has been just a bit-part player for the Blues this season, also went on record to support the 52-year-old, saying: "If anyone is going to get us out of this hole it is going to be Jose Mourinho."

Ironically, it was claimed by former Chelsea star Claude Makelele, in his 2009 autobiography, that it was player-power that led to Mourinho parting company with the west Londoners eight years ago, with Terry particularly upset at being left out of the team due to his back injury.

Makelele revealed in the book that assistant Rui Faria told him Mourinho had been sacked by owner Roman Abramovich. "I asked him why and he explained a lot of players had complained about him, notably John Terry."

Terry and Chelsea disputed the claims, but the book 'Claude Makelele: Tout simplement' remains on sale in France.

Mourinho also came in for stick tonight from former England boss Fabio Capello, who accused him of driving his players to the brink of mental exhaustion.

Capello said: "Mourinho burns out his players after a year and a half, at most two years. The cycles of Mourinho last more or less this time.

"His men are mentally no longer able to give what he wants. I had already heard it when he was in Madrid and now we have confirmation in London.

"It is true that Chelsea are paying for some of their absences like [Thibaut] Courtois.

"But there have also been tactical errors from the coach, who this year is not preparing for matches very well."

The Blues languish in 16th and have lost six games already this season, including four in the league.

iirc most sacked manager contracts allow them to continue being paid a full salary of what remains until they find a new job, and after thats it no more.

If Jose gets sacked, that means for doing a brick job he will be paid ten times as much as I will make in my entire career. Madness. Wish I could convince someone I was a good manager.
