Edward Smith!
To be honest Im with the majority of foreign teams who dont put much emphasis on who is captain. Natural leaders don't need an armband to lead by example, when Parker was here he didn't wait until he had the armband to do it. Does it really matter?

Hasn't that been the situation (or close to being the situation) for most of Dawson's time as captain?
Agreed but we have very few outfield natural leaders in our squad. Right now our team needs a captain. Loris has the right mentality but I think we need someone further up the pitch.
I agree with you to an extent.
However, I do think it can matter in some circumstances.
Also, one of the most important factors for me is that being given the armband can help raise the player to another level. I think that's been the case several times and players that are perhaps a bit short of being the perfect natural leader raise their game a bit as a result of getting the armband. They take more responsibility, perhaps the impact on the rest of the players of having that person as a captain isn't that big, but he impact on the player himself can be significant.
Yes, but the question still remains who should that person be if we're in the same situation come the start of the season.
Interesting point, in that case I'd give it to Walker. I think he's got the potential and the tools to become a world class RB, I could see him maturing nicely being given that responsibility. He's now been here a few years and Id say is at the right sort of age to be ready for that responsibilty and grow into the role....

Where is this from? And what are the values based upon?
I linked to the report above. The valuation strategy is outlined in the extract.

Hmm..Lahm or Alves come straight to mind. I like Walker but would he be more expensive than those two?
Shaw at 31mil is a bit much also.

Confirmed as Dawson:
“For me it’s not a problem to choose the captain. Michael Dawson is here and he’s the captain, there’s nothing to talk about.”
