Cann we make the top 4 or 5?

Yes. I believe United were underperforming under Ten Hag. If we compare our squads, I believe they have more depth than ours. Also they have won trophies within the last few seasons.
I agree about the pedigree, if we come up against Man U in that tournament I would have my doubts because having history of winning these European tournaments can definitely be a factor and a massive club like them always has the potential to step up in these moments regardless of how bad they are. Whereas Spurs? Well, you know what we tend to do :D

But squad wise I disagree, I think we have the better first eleven and better overall squad - theirs have more experience which counts for something, but I'd still pick ours with better overall quality for me.....

We have a better squad than United because ours actually includes some balance
Didn’t United lose this final a few years back
Maybe because their pedigree isn’t what it was

They won the Europa League in 2016/17. And maybe their pedigree isn't what it was but they have still won trophies even during the 'dark times' of ETH era. And don't make me list how many trophies they have won since we last won something, it definitely is a factor. I'm not saying we can't/wouldn't beat them, but it would be close and not an easy match up....

It may be. But maybe I’m being naive in not understanding how when we be at then it’s because they are crap
Now they aren’t…
Because they did something previously

I said at the time of our away victory its a good win and people were underplaying it. Man U consistently raise their game for the bigger games and teams....

They’re not a great side but they have a habit of turning up for big games, finals etc. So whilst they are very beatable, I wouldn’t make us favourites in a final against them.

Fully agree
But it’s the knocking of our chances i dont get
A crap united side have won two cups in the last two years. If that doesn’t make us think we can win one then I don’t know what does

I’d suggest it’s more to do with the pedigree they have as a club for winning compared to us in recent times. Hopefully once we finally get over the line and win something it will breed confidence and lead to more trophies.

I always joke with myself that the football gods decide who win cups. Guys like Poch had such a rough time of it with the gods and then they gave it all back to him in one CL run in the 18/19 season. Still, we only came second.

I always think back to that semi-final against Utd when Anthony Taylor just blatantly ignored the laws of the game and let Antoinio Valencia get away with a first half leg breaker. It was one of the poorest pieces of refereeing I've ever seen as he didn't even book him. It was a straight red.

When people think about that game, they see Mourinho getting one over Poch and being the master tactician. I just see a game that should have been 11 vs 10 for 70 mins and a comfortable stroll to a final.

I genuinely hope Ange gets his fair share of luck with the gods.

I’m struggling to remember the Valencia incident. All I remember from that game is we turned up for 20 minutes and didn’t put them under any pressure after they took the lead.

Do you remember Dier hitting the left upright near the end whilst Van der Sar stood and watched?

The frustrating thing about Valencia that season is that he did that 3 times and should have been off in both league games as well. We beat them 3-0 and 2-0 in the league games and they were a poor side. Jose converted Valencia into a late career full-back (like Ashley Young) and they just kicked everything that moved. Old pro's just get away with it.

Taylor definitely changed history that season, as he has done so many times in his questionable refereeing career.
