Burglary takes courage

Well if they broke in my house they would not be walking out, screw what others think.

If they tried to attack my folks, and I was staying with my folks at the time, and they seriously injured my folks, the burglars wouldn't walk out alive...

If they tried to simply burgle my place, I would lock them down with a citizens arrest and get the police involved. Let's be honest, there are times when irrespective of any laws, our behaviour would change to fit the situation. My family come above any meagre possessions. I would say same with any girlfriend but bearing in mind I'm no longer seeing mine, I don't have one to protect right now.
