Are we begining to wobble?

I think the season ended in January when Sandro was injured and the squad was weakened overall by the transfer activity. No new striker and letting Townsend go out on loan. Holtby came in, but AVB seems to be doubting him.

I think AVB is drawing on too much on his experience of winning the Europa and league in the same season with Porto. The Portuguese league is full of second rate teams that you just have to turn up and beat, the Premier League isn't. There's no easy games here.

He needed to make a decision. Europa or CL qualification. He chose both. That was his mistake. If Dembele hadn't scored that last minute equalizer against Lyon, we'd have won both the last two league games, and have one foot in next year's CL.

I know there's some here who'd rather win the Europa than qualify for next season CL, but you're mistaken in that view. It's a second rate competition that no-one is interested in and it won't improve us in any way as a team next year. Not getting into the CL will make holding on to our best players very difficult and making signing top quality transfer targets very difficult as well. And we'll lose out on both CL money and an improved Sponsorship deal next year when the Autonomy/Investec deal runs out.

The season's gonna end up in abject failure, we won't make top 4 and we won't win the Europa either.

we've lost two games - one away to Liverpool and the other after a grueling 120 minutes of midweek football in a foreign country, and it seems more than half the board are ready to wave the white flag in defeat - man up you spineless tacos, the seasons far from over and the past couple of games at this point is nothing more than two bad results.

I hate trying to win things.... Let's just settle for no ambition at all and admit that we can't compete with the big boys and 4th is all we can possible dream of. Pluss I hate Amsterdam no way would I want to go there with a load of yids.

People are pointing to the last two seasons's form towards the end of the season and fear it will happen again. It's fear and panic talking. You can't have a go at people because they don't share your confidence.

Also people are just realistic when it comes to the form of out strikers and don't think either of them will come out of their slump. We've seen THAT before in recent seasons too.

I've got a ticket for the Southampton game, just because I'm fearful of how the season will end doesn't mean I won't get behind the team when I go to the game.

It seems like you have one of those machines that can tell an alternate future and also predict the actual future. I'd love to have a go on that. PM me and we can set up a time and a place. But as you have that machine maybe you already have PM'd me. I'll go and check. Cheers, mate.

The international break has come at the right time I think.

The most disappointing thing for me in the last week, and probably for a little while is the lack of balance to the side and lack of width, which is why I can understand Benny being played LM. It didn't work but then it was always a bit of a gamble.

And of course we've not been helped by Aaron's injury, as a team we have always looked much more of a threat with Bale and Lennie providing width and pace. Without one or the other we need some magic from the centre but we haven't got that anymore.

I hope AVB uses this time off to think about how best to take the team forward for the rest of the season. Keep it simple, keep it compact, play players where their used to playing, ie push Gareth back out left with dempsey supporting ade from central. As others have said we need to move the ball quicker and that's why Carrol has done so well coming on- he keeps it simple plays it quick makes himself available looks for the space.

I have the faith that we're not a lost cause but the players and manager really need to work hard together to turn this frown upside down. COYS!

Feeling a lot better about our chances today. Genuinely think if we get Lennon back and keep everyone else fit we can win 6 of 8.

Current league form for the top 7 teams points from last 6 games

United 18/18
City 8/18
Chelsea 10/18
Tottenham 12/18
Arsenal 13/18
Everton 10/18
Liverpool 10/18

This is why everyone is bricking themselves right?

Once again, it's because of last season, the season before and because it's Spurs.

This.

I noticed your post after I had written my reply to you. Apologies for that. Fair play to you for changing your stance. I tend to get frustrated whilst watching Spurs, hence why I have chosen to stop posting in the match threads until after the game has finished.

No worries, I thought you'd missed it.

Not a change as such, just hopefully an explanation as to why I post the way I do in the wake of defeat, further, hopefully some thoughts on why we all post the way we do.
You find comfort in your process, I find comfort in mine. It's all good. Although I will say that it will absolutely dictate what I post in an OMT as I don't want to be a WUM in any way.

I just believe this team is in far better shape than many think...

perhaps people would be wise to take little more perspective with things - did anyone expect us to go the rest of the season without losing a game? - im sure nobody was that naive, so why is it when we do lose a game people jump straight in to the end is nigh/prophet of doom personas?

Don't panic Mr Mannering Sir, don't panic.

Unless Arsenal drop points, we can't afford to drop points over our next 4 games which will be extremely tough.

Of course not, but one defeat at Liverpool (in a game which we dominated) led to a battering at the San Siro against a very poor Inter side and a terrible and putrid performance against a team who had only won something like 1 London derby away from home in 40 attempts.

You ask for perspective, that's exactly what people are doing in terms of looking back to our form in the closing stages of last season. If these defeats were in say October, there wouldn't be such doom and gloom.

And like I said before, a lot of Spurs fans look to Defoe and Adebayor's shocking form recently and have no confidence in them to get us the goals we need. Only Bale seems to be a goal threat at the moment. Now you may argue Van Persie carried Arsenal last season, but I honestly expected his form to dip eventually, but it never did.
