Antonio Nusa

Shame as I think he could be a really special player.

But seems like regularly starting games is important to him (as it should be) and we couldn't promise that. So he made a smaller step up to make sure he got that. What can you do...

Hopefully some other moves we're looking at.
That's why he wants to leave Brugge...he doesn't even start regularly for them :)

Guaranteeing game time for any player is a slippery slope, I'm amazed any club would sanction it, regardless of how good the player is... but especially for a teenager who so far seems to have been merely decent in a second rate league.

It won’t be guarantees
But it will be a plan of how they will use him that may be more appealing

Bellingham was playing regular first team football for Dortmund at 18, come to thing of it he was playing regular first team football for Birmingham at 16 so there is a slight difference.

This was not a case whereby Spurs decided not to sign him because he was too expensive. No, this was a situation where Nusa and his entourage wanted to sign for a club whereby they were "guatanteed" starts. The only person at Spurs that can guarantee you a start at Spurs is Ange, not Levy nor anyone else.

Nusa made a footballing decision and did what was best for him. At 18 sign for a small premier club where he is guaranteed to play knowing that later on, an elite club could come in for him.

Besides,in 2 or 3 years he may well be a fantastic player (for the record I think he will become one), but there is also a possibility that he might not.

Do not try and talk sense to someone who is on a rant, you know it will make no difference to some.;)

So you dont think I talk sense?
I want Spurs to be the best.. and sometime you have to go the extra mile to get the best.. but ppl here can dream about us signing 60+mill players… I belive we where good with having alternativs earlier and got Vic and VDV when others transfers whent out the window.. but I have a bad feeling this will bite us in the ass.
ppl in here are shoure the reason is that he didnt get playing time here and thats why he whent to Bentford.. I belive we didnt go all in for him..

You cant spend €37m (including add ons) plus sell on fee on an 18 year old, especially when there are players in the academy on a similar level.

Plus he may well have opted for Brentford anyway as he wants plenty of game time next season.

Hard to argue that we do have players in the youth who are as good .. I think your on the wind up there

But I do agree that it’s possible we may have players who will be as good/better, but possibly worse in 2 years time with the players coming through

Not on a wind up, I believe Mikey Moore will be better than what Nusa is now when he also hits 18 in 18 months.

Possibly
It’s all ifs, buts and maybes
That’s why the fee probably isn’t right for us for a development player
And maybe the club have looked inwards and thought maybe we have younger players who will be better
So put the money towards a first team starter

Every kid is the next big thing. Just flick through the 21 pages of transfer threads to see a litany of famous names and absolute nobodies you have never heard of, e.g.

"They are very different players. Eriksen is more a one-paced #10, whereas Bernard looks more like a rapid winger. Personally I'm not sure either are particularly what we need. Bernard isn't really a proper inside forward and Eriksen isn't dominating enough to be our CM ballplayer."

Who can forget the mighty Bernard, or that Eriksen fella?

Brentford’s Antonio Nusa signing in doubt due to deal complications

David Ornstein

Brentford’s proposed signing of Antonio Nusa from Club Bruges has been thrown into doubt by some complications in the deal.

An agreement was found between the two clubs and with the 18-year-old Norway international, who favoured Brentford over a host of sides after their long-term pursuit and plan for his development.

But the transfer has not yet been finalised and appears to have taken a backwards step, potentially opening the door to a late push by other teams.

Equally, there is a strong chance the winger does not move prior to Thursday’s deadline and the matter is readdressed before the summer.

Despite interest from Premier League rivals including Chelsea, Liverpool, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford emerged as his preferred choice.

Securing such a highly-rated talent would have been an impressive recruit for the west London side.

In light of this development, however, it is unclear if Brentford’s acquisition will come to fruition prior to the winter market closing.

How about the next big thing who rejected Brentford in the summer - Bakeyoko. A proven winger at PSV with a couple of years on Nusa. He would cost more but seems worthwhile.
