Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

When I see Antonio celebrating I just can’t get enough when I see Antonio scream and shouting I just can’t get enough we’ll sing from the shelf side we’ll sing from park lane I just can’t seem to get enough of Antonio conte

Love it. Much better than the morretti spagghetti chant

Even with the relatively friendly fixture list Conte has had I find it really difficult to see how some posters think we haven’t improved since the Nuno and even Jose days.
I did say I don’t think the football has been that much better under Conte, and I do stand by that - we have played average to poor teams and have never thought after the game ‘Wow, we were really good’ just been ok or done enough to win. However Leicester was a much better performance, and interesting that was the best attacking performance followed by Liverpool(even though they were very much weakened) and both were 3-5-2 formation, have been more impressed with us in that formation.

However I don’t think those above xG stats are fair. For perspective Nuno had played against all of the top 8 except Liverpool. Under Conte Leicester was the first time we’d beaten a team in the top half of the table, and even then they are only just tenth so not time to get carried away. Let’s see how we play in more difficult fixtures, Chelsea will be a good test to see if we really are going places. Either way am very happy we have Conte and think next season is when we will rocket under him as think we will back him in the summer…..

Just a quick glance at understat. May have missed something... I can't see a single game where we had an xG over 2 under Nuno.

Our two best "xG performances" under Nuno was as far as I can see:
-Villa 1.78 xG vs 1.07 for them.
-Saudi Sportswashing Machine 1.55 xG vs 0.65 for them.

Clear contrast to the Conte game imo.

Anyone know what the italian media are saying about contes start with spurs? Might influence a few transfers if it's positive.

The way Conte talks about his players, key moments in the match you can tell he is a true leader of men. Beyond just charisma there is that desire to win. But very well tempered and cultured. I hope he stays with us for a looong time. Such a class act and I've never enjoyed manager interviews and cams so much.

Perryman, what a leader too. When he carried the ball upfield, the whole team responded.

Much like the great Lothar Matheus during the time.

I've already mentioned how Conte is at fault for both goals conceded against Chelsea. Tactically, leaving Tanganga on for 10m after half-time lost us the game.

However, the other thing that has let us down is squad building.

Under ENIC, it will be a disadvantage forever, and ever, but it is worth pointing out just what a difference it is to have Levy and Lewis as the deadweights in charge, against ambitious owners.

We are 23 days into the window. 23.

We've clearly wanted a right back for months. We will leave it to the final week, maybe the final day. Who knows what a new RB would have done here - how different this could have been.

We wanted a forward to back up Harry Kane. GHod knows if we'll get one before the window closes.

We wanted a center-back. Likewise, GHod knows if we'll get one.

In a window where Antonio Conte, the best manager we've appointed since Poch, has been begging for reinforcements - we have given him absolutely none.

And as a case study, it is interesting to see what a difference early transfers can make.

Aston Villa appointed Steven Gerrard a few weeks after Conte. They have moved fast and hard to back him, bringing in Coutinho - who then made an instant impact at United. Digne - who made an instant impact against Everton. They have helped Aston Villa pick up points they may not have done if they had not arrived.

Who knows how different this game could have been, if we had been proactive - for once in the twenty years of Levy and Lewis' miserable, parsimonious, grinding, depressing rule at Spurs.

Aston Villa, a club recently in the championship, moved faster than us to back a manager whose biggest achievement was winning the title with Rangers.

We left Antonio Conte, one of the game's best managers, high and dry.

What we we do now may salvage the rest of the season. But ultimately, our utter inaction for three weeks shows once again how Daniel Levy has learned absolutely nothing, and never will.

Penny-wise, pound foolish. Should engrave that on his damn tombstone.
