Antonin Kinsky

I hope I'm wrong, but I worry about this, I think he's levels behind Vic and its a mistake to think he is good enough to be our starting keeper, but it looks like that is whats happening.

We signed him last year on a six and a half year deal(?).
If that’s true, wouldn’t have necessarily thought a new contract was of the utmost urgency at this particular juncture? As in, make him the starter now and give him a season or so to offer more clarity?

He probably had a release clause in the contract and this was to remove it. They have always been common among young goalkeepers.

Also, simply to demonstrate our commitment to him as number 1 by boosting his wages. And to demonstrate to other players that we’ll do right by them when they progress even if we had them on longer terms.

Yep. He probably had a clause in his contract already that would kick in if he got a certain number of Prem games and this just gets ahead of it. Also sends a message to the young players in the squad that if you do prove yourself you will be rewarded at a time when Bergvall & Vuskovic are wanting to jump ship rather than fight for their spot.

Goalkeeping is a unique position. Everywhere else on the pitch commotion for places pushes those players to perform better. At Goalkeeper, it’s actually the opposite more often than not. I genuinely beleive Kinsky will perform even better due to the confidence RDZ has given him and just play regular football again.

Very much in the fence with him being number 1

The Save against Leeds was unreal, but the first goal against Chelsea was very weak in the run of games he had.

We saw how a crap keeper costs you points last year, but on the other hand, if he's not given a chance we won't know if he is good enough to step up.

Fair comments. How do/did you rate Kinksy when dealing with corners and aerial balls generally compared to Vicario?

it's a limited run of games to base it on, but I thought he looked steady/confident, which helps the defence massively if they know what he's doing

I seem to think he punched a lot, which isn't an issue as long as it's up and out

Vicario just flaps and upsets the defence.

The right decision by the manager and the club.

Hugo set a really high bar for most of his Spurs career. At the end of it we needed someone to come in and get us back to that level again. Vic showed early promised but didn't seem to pull his entire game together. Vic has some amazing attributes, but Kinsky is the ball player and that is what RDZ seems to want in every position.

He is still young for a keeper so if all goes well he will get better with age. Coming back from his nightmare in the CL shows that he has a strong attitude and IF he keeps it up could be a very good keeper. Well done to him.

Many goalies would have struggled with that Chelsea goal, yes the scorer was about 30 yards out but Danso's postion right on the edge of the box and Paulhinha running right across as the ball was struck didn't help Kinsky's view . Such was the curve of the ball that from a central position it curved behind Palhinha and Danso and it struck the net just inside the post , need an aerodynamics expert on the curve and velocity on this one.
