American politics

Golds up 23% since i invested in it a couple of months back.

I have put my money in my company, performed well although I lost 50K today with the bombing in the UAE. Managed to squirrel a fair bit away last year though whilst taking dividends out as a salary. I do kick myself on gold though

He's not up for re-election. This is his last term. So he has no need to care about popularity.
I know he has been talking about a third term for over a year now, so it is something he's considered. The constitution is little more than a historical document at this point, so there is a possibility he might try it. He tried an insurrection after all. However, I don't see it happening for a couple of other reasons, the primary one is that Thiel wants his man Vance at the helm. Another one is that he is falling apart mentally and phyisically so Father Time will probably take care of that.

But either way, he definitely needs to consider his popularity, as a half-decent showing in the midterms is his only route to avoid accountability. If the GOP absolutely tanks in the midterms, the Dem Congress will impeach him repeatedly. If it gets really bad then they might even get enough Senate seats to convict him. You know he is worried as they are pushing this 'Save' act thing which is just another attempt to rig the vote.

Gdp rose 2.2% in 2025. Inflation 2.4%. Unemploymet 4.3% Markets near record high. Wage growth 3.7%.

Keir Starmer would kill for those numbers.
Depending on who you believe, the US GDP numbers are half to three quarters based on the AI bubble. So this bubble could be about 5 times bigger than the dot-com bubble. The US economy is not in a good place. And I'm not even going into how brick GDP is at measuring actually prospertity for regular folk.

Wage growth vs inflation is probably the best measure.

The parents of those 85 girls will get so much solace from this I imagine...

No i'm sure it will be devestating. I don't want this to happen. But even the guardian report you posted had quotes like these:

“We were not in favour of foreign intervention, because we did not want our loved ones to be killed, but the regime has massacred our families anyway. When weapons come from the US, do they strike us more gently than when they come from the regime’s killing machines?”

‐‐----------------------------------------------------------------------

“We do fear that compatriots will be killed [by the US/Israeli strikes], but I have witnessed friends gunned down by the regime – like thousands of us have.

“I don’t really know what we are going to witness. But thanks to the regime and its killing machine, we have already seen what a war zone feels like.”
