American politics

there's civil wars going on in most african countries and nobody gives a toss, i dont think the next 9/11 will come from anybody based in afghanistan, i think biden had the right intentions but his execution was terrible.

Hasn’t there been a war going somewhere in the world a 1000 years
We as humans seem to almost need war to give us a balance of what peace looks like
And in the modern times war is almost encouraged by the countries who benefit most by selling weapons for example
Most have a religious under tow of some sort but it’s ultimately about a disagreement

Most of the criticisms of Biden over the withdrawal are in bad faith. He's far from blameless of course, but the inside-the-beltway press are falling over themselves with dubious hot takes. They were desperate to find an issue they can both sides to display how super non-partisan they are. But most of their takes are devoid of context if not outright wrong, with a few smart exceptions. There was no easy way out of Afghanistan and none that would not involve some amount of chaos.

Of course, this feeding frenzy is to the absolute delight of the GQP, who were running thin on culture war issues. A terrorist attack on US troops was a political gift that they accepted with glee. It's was a chance to talk about something other than their own terrorist attack on their own capital earlier this year. It just goes to show how unequal the standards each party is judged against over there.

You've said that the only criticism has been from those with an agenda.

That statement is also true when those with the opposite agenda have failed to criticise him.

I thought he was going to be moderate and most importantly competent. But though not as stupid as Trump as that would be hard for anyone. He is as muddled.

But the media well some of it turning a blind eye to his gaffs are doing the same thing they accused Trump and his supporters of.

Just as we need someone in this country to unite us so do the Americans.

Seen a few interviews with Bliar recently which reminded me why I voted for him in 97. Shame he turned out to be a war criminal and completely and utterly wrong on Europe.

D.Feinstein will not last much longer and having a MAGA governor in CA would mean she would be replaced with a GOP senator, and the Dems would lose their razor-thin senate advantage. And that would be the death knell for any decent climate legislation, less moral authority to coerce other nations to follow suit, boiling seas, fires, floods, death and screaming, cats and dogs living together, and the end of civilisation. Bullet dodged.
