Dele talking how he’s just learnt to microwave beans. He’s quite immature and
i think some of this sums up his attitude and why he can’t adapt to the situation he now finds himself.

He’s had a smooth ride since becoming a footballer from MK but now for the first time he’s going to have to use his brain and clearly struggling.

Is he struggling to use his brain? Interesting. how exactly?

And what do you mean by 'his attitude' and 'cant adapt'?

I'm really curious as to what you've actually seen and know to lead to these statements/findings?

Buy Gary Neville not only made loads of cups of tea but also cooked pasta with Becks. And G Nev was WAY more successful. So there you have it. Except that Harry Kane has a chef. I suppose it means that you can do well if you can cook, you can do better if you can hire someone else to cook for you? It's all very confusing. But I guarantee that Jose has a team that is all over food/drink making in the squad and picks the team based on this vital area of life.

The point is he’s had everything done for him so probably needs a shock to his system e.g a transfer to PSG get and we can buy a quality cb with the money.

I fudging love Hugo. What a mans man. Strong. And sexy.

I love Son. Such a genuine guy.

Dele is lovely. Dier is great.

Jan leaving bought a tear. Him and Toby were genuinely great together.

Tangana is the new Ledley.

I now really want Aurier and Sissoko to do well.

Lucas seems very decent and not a horrible right wing nutter.

Harry is a legend and I loved the family stuff with him.

I wanted to like Levy more - but he didn’t seem genuine on camera. Very guarded, which may be ironically genuine, as he’s meant to be quite socially awkward.

And finally, José knows. He sees the problems and he’s trying to fix them.


Caveat: yes I know it’s been edited to make me think all of this.

Footnote. Kept forgetting it was Tom Hardy, until I picked up faint traces of Alfie Solomon. GHod he must have been trying so hard to keep a lid on the accent and yid comments!!!

My takeaway

- Jose got it right in his assessment, too nice
- It is clear in multiple scenarios that this team had no sense of accountability to their teammates, no one would call out others for their brick (hence Hugo calling out Son was such a "shock")

If Jose can fix that (either by instilling it, or changing players), we may cross that final hurdle.

I think they come across as preferring not to dig out their mates even if it means not improving results. One of them really needs to grow a pair and sort it out.


Also think dele is doing the dumb thing very tongue in cheek, but he's living up to a stereotype so some can't see it.

Dele is fine IMO, yes he's off form and is still recovering from injuries of the last 18 months.
He still 'quality' and we need that at Spurs.

I think that’s a bit harsh as it implies Dele just sits back now he’s made it. I’d imagine he worked his arse off to be a pro. I don’t think there are many pros who don’t dedicate their lives to being professional players. It’s an incredible achievement and takes a level of commitment that most/all of us have ever managed.

He looked like he was going to make it by the time he reached 16. A lot of growing up that I had to do occurred between the age of 18-25. That’s when I learned to do a lot of stuff for myself. Dele, like most pros I’d imagine, was having that stuff done for him so he could focus on his football. You can’t judge his maturity by normal standards. Likewise, you can’t judge his intelligence, professionalism or workrate as a footballer by his maturity level – I think that’s unfair to him and many other footballers/celebrities.

He came across as a bit immature to me but very likeable nonetheless.

Finished it now. No matter how they get and dress it up the season ended on a damp squid. It was almost like I’d recovered the stupid blind hope during the doc that there would be a happy ending !
Overall I think it hasn’t done any damage and really does show off our facilities. Most players came out of it ok, other than Rose and Dele who I’m sure from other times I’ve seen him on camera is more intelligent that the doc makes him look. Levy came over a little in awe of Mourinho and not as distant from the players as I’d expect.

i think the team talks and tactics were heavily edited, partly for professsional secrecy and partly because I think there’d be some specific things like kick x / fudge this club etc. It felt like they knew they were on camera so it was stilted. It also reminded me of some of those key things that went against us and with a little more luck / stronger reaction mentality to these events and with the signings we have made already it gives room for optimism. The instructions Mourinho has been filmed giving are not far off what we ask for as fans, so whether it’s editing out the ‘sit deep hit them in the break’ or the players aren’t capable of pressing is an interesting one for me.
Also it reminds me just how vital Kane is for this group, he looks to be mature and a deep thinker and he’s just so reliable in front of goal. Would be great to get a full managed season out of him.
And what a job it must be to be a professional footballer, I’m it even sure they wipe their own arses!

Beans aside, If you have suffered trauma in your formative years it doesn’t magically disappear when you have career success. And the notion that getting to where he was at his peak was ‘plain sailing’ is also absurd.

It shows he needs some balance in his life
I don’t know if his missus is serious with him but at the very least get a chef like Kane did and enjoy the trappings of success that way

What he needs now is a mentor - he still acts like a petulant kid instead of like a professional and part of a team unit.
He is a top old for that now, but there are mitigating circumstances.

Am I one of the only ones to be quite pleased that one of our elite players does not know how to cook baked beans? (Or rather did not, maybe lockdown had a negative impact on his diet).

The TFC podcast ran an interview with the producers of the series. They had gazillions of hours of filming and had to decide on which stories to create. Dele is young, marketable and well-known to football fans (not just Spurs fans), so ideal to feature (imo). I wouldn’t read too much into anything shown in carefully edited clips (same with Mourinho, where I admit I have been guilty of being led by my own bias).

Dele always comes across as very mature in interviews, although perhaps a bit too petulant with the chucking down of water bottles. If anything the jokey parts of the series showed him to be in good spirit with those around him, and fun. He’s been struggling for a while, whether through injury, being played out of position, or general lack of form - probably a combination of all three. Maybe it will mean that he doesn’t fit in a Mourinho team, which would be a great shame in my opinion but perhaps not an outrageous outcome. But let’s not judge his maturity on his culinary abilities and his fascination with whether or not to put water on his toothbrush (why would anyone do that?).

I personally think all the attitude stuffor whether he can cook or whether he's a super serious character or not are irrelevant.

Ultimately we judge based on the performances on the pitch and Dele's have been poor for quite a while. Whether he can turn that around remains to be seen but as has been discussed as infinitum it looks a difficult prospect given how specific a player he is and the system seemingly necessary to get the best out of him.
