I reckon 2-3 years of intensive coaching might be able to covert him into a poor man's Dembele. A line breaking CM type of player. But why spend so much money on a not very young long-term project

I just don't see him having any value higher up the pitch though

I can’t think of a worse comparison tbh! Completely different skill sets.

I’m not writing him off. I see him as either a wild card at RWB, or an impact sub which we’ve generally lacked (aside of Stevie on Weds).

He’s not exactly being signed to take over the reigns from Kane or Son so not worth getting too emotional about.

But £20m in this day and age is not big money at all. In fact its quite the opposite.

You wouldn’t have gone near antonio a few years ago and now we’d very much like him in our squad. Traore can be much the same but at £20m its certainly worth a punt.

Wouldn't be that bothered with Antonio. Blows hot and colder than Defoe used to and seems to save most of his standout performances for playing against us. Not sure why he keeps being used as an example of what we should be aspiring to.

Its an example of how an unfancied enigma type player similar to traore can improve significantly.

fwiw I’m not massively convinced of traore either but there is a chance he could surprise us. Its certainly not in the same bracket as the sissoko signing imo.
