25/26 Injury and illness thread

Can I just state for the record, and for the benefit of @tommysvr, that I hold Thomas Frank accountable for several injuries this season.

For a few games he was rotating, but then he froze out Tel and played several players until they popped e.g. Kudus and Richie and Porro.

For me, any manager must balance the needs of "the next 30 minutes" versus "the needs of the next 3 months out with a serious injury".

Always, always we should bring a player off and ensure they are here for the next 3 months, rather than forcing them into an injury for the sake of a (knackered) 30 minutes.

E.g. if you rate Odobert higher than Tel but Odo has played a lot recently that is fine, play Odo for 60 and Tel for 30. Don't "only play Odo til his ACL explodes and he is out for the season" as that really, really, really, really, really doesn't help us.

Sure, a manager might contribute to injuries. Ange quite clearly did too — even if he got the ok from the medical team and the players themselves to play Romero and VDV vs Chelsea last season, they both got injured again in that match. He played a part.

That wasn’t the problem in the rhetoric last season. Like all criticism of Ange, it went above and beyond.

We've currently got 12 first teamers out injured
Next lowest down is 6, we have 6 out for the rest of the season

Since Game Week 12 last season, we've had at least 6 1st teamers out every game

That's ridiculous

We need 12 points from 12 games and we had 12 days break between matches with 12 players out. Let's do this. COYS.

So far I think it is only Odobert that won't be fit to start the new season, so I presume we will find another 5 massive injuries before June, so we can start the new season with a nice level of 6 injuries. It's what we do.

I will be interested to see how many of the injured come back 'ahead of schedule having worked incredibly hard'...if I was a betting man, I'd say Porro and Richy will for sure be back faster. Outlier punt? Kudus!!!
I dont know, all 3 of those want to be at a world cup in a few months, so have that motivate irrespective of anything else

What's the implication here, that these players would have not been committed enough under Frank to get back to match fitness to help the club avoid relegation? If so I hope they're sold at the earliest opportunity

Do we get an award for having the most expensive injury team:

Richarlison

Odobert Maddison Bentancur Kulusevski Kudus

Udogie Davies Danso Porro

Bergvall (Keeper)

Utterly insane, the math on lost players per game over that period must be crazy.

In any sane organization would demand a full review and report

Didn't we do such a review and report last season?

Maybe it concluded that we would be unable to assemble a squad that can manage PL and European football at the same time any time soon so thus we hired Frank to help out on the injury front going into the 26/27 season?

Whilst it is funny to put Bergvall in goal, that above really highlights the amount of attacking midfield talent we are missing.

Even if you say Bergvall is an 8, we are missing these lot

ST: Richie
AM: Odo Madd Deki Kudus
8s: Bergvall Bentancur

(And that back 4 above Udogie Davies Danso Porro)

So even when missing that 4 Odo Madd Deki Kudus, we will field Xavi and (Tel or Muani) behind Solanke. Quite impressive depth IF FIT.
