    Tactics Thread

Based on his presser this week, it does feel like he is looking to establish 7-9 first team choices that the others can rotate around. It doesn't feel like he's looking for a best eleven unless I interpreted it incorrectly. When I think about it more, our defence is about a mini-squad of 6...

Yep, not sure whether it still has the same name but in my case they called it the "ex-gratia" payment. There were terms in the settlement agreement that meant that if I didn't align to the paperwork, then the ex-gratia payment would be withdrawn. There were even clauses that the ex-gratia...

Has Frank forgot about Tel as well?

This is the bit that is the mystery to me. When games come thick and fast you're clearly going to remove some of the physical conditioning work and focus instead on tactically prepping for the matches. You could argue that could be a great time to focus on the possession side of the game.

    25/26 Injury and illness thread

Problem is we think of players as injured or not injured based on whether they are on this list. As we've seen with Udogie, 100% match fitness and form consistently is what it's all about. Udogie hasn't been anywhere near that for any 2 week period.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Problem is, he didn't change it. He tried to play the same Ange-ball, just in a slightly different formation. He didn't get the wing-backs wide and he completed frazzled young Archie's head. He then abandoned it at half time from memory. When Frank has changed to 3 at the back, he has at least...

Yeah, the Everton game was an eye opener as to how fragile Ange's system was. I was shocked how he failed to move things around. It didn't shine a great light on our manager. I guess the point is we're around 20 games played (13 league) plus pre-season. A core group of "1st teamers" has been...

    Redundancy Advice please Glenda

Whilst you've been looking at online resources to answer your question, should you perhaps call the ACAS helpline and speak with an expert? Helpline 0300 123 1100 https://www.acas.org.uk/contact I actually don't know the 9 vs 10 answer. My guess is your instincts is right and they can play...

I'd actually like to see this in stats. I get the impression that these players would mostly play - Vic, Porro, Romero, VDV, Udogie, Palhinha, Bents, Kudus and probably Richi. Spence has been consistently selected when Udogie couldn't make the line-up and has probably played more over the...

"throwing" is an interesting word. I'd happily Frank plot his absolute best teams in the PL. Get some consistent line-ups and then let the CL fit around the PL being our no 1 priority.

So, so true. The problem is, that could happen anyway. Nobody would be surprised to see the final 3-4 months of this season being just league games.

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Yep, column A. Said this before, but our club might be suffering a massive hangover from the injury crises we found ourselves in. We now rotate out of conservatism of players welfare, so we always change the side. It also feels like we don't train the guys hard enough to have the match day...

    Thomas Frank - Head Coach

It's an interesting debate. Our club should have been a lot harder on Kane and they should never have compromised Nuno in the way they did on that summer's fiasco. We needed to be more Man Utd / Fergie with Beckham and Stam. I don't even remember Harry getting a max 2 week fine for not getting...

Here's a question for all you xPerts. When Spence got to the by-line last night, refused to use his left foot and then got his right foot cross blocked at source what does that do for xG. He could clearly slide it into the 18 yard box with his left if he wasn't being such a numpty. There...

From the BBC article yesterday. Spurs have scored 20 times from an xG of 11.2, meaning they have scored about nine more than the average team would have, from the shots they have taken this season. So here's a question. In fact two. Why would I trust an indicator that is performing so...

Gray has just returned from a short spell on the sidelines. I doubt he'll play back to back games. Wasn't it a soft tissue injury as well?

    Archie Gray

I can remember a couple of weeks ago that Gray was on the treatment table. I reckon he was probably blowing hard in the second half so getting 75 mins out of him was probably about right by Frank. I reckon that sub was always going to happen. Hopefully no negative reaction and we now get Gray...

Just wrote the same thing on the other thread about Bents making his captain look a mug by not making a simple move to receive a pass for the goal. I also called out Romero for not being able to live with another player's mistake and clearing his lines. I'm not saying that I know the answer...

    Cristian Romero

Spot on. Look closely and the pass to Sarr wasn't his preferred one. He immediately looked to Bents who stood frozen rather than move a couple of yards to receive the ball. Bents allowed the opposition player to be directly between him and Romero. He made his captain look a mug but Romero needed...
