I was always told you learn more from a failed project than you do from a successful one. They must have learned loads from the VAR implementation in football :tearsofjoy:

On the incoming side I think you're spot on. Not sure what dates we loaned players last season but logically you'd want to be in situ with your new club and get in tune with your new manager's tactics as early as possible. We sometimes see our players starting as bench players. Surely the best...

Very true. The Championship season is almost upon us as well.

    New Captain Poll

Wasn't Kane the vice captain to Hugo or was that a wrong assumption by myself? Whether I agreed or not, there was never any doubt in my mind that Kane would wear the armband when Hugo wasn't in the side.

    Transfer thread

We had 13 players out on loan last season across the 1st team and academy. We currently only have 3 including Dragu. Add back the potential player sales in August and it really could be close to every 2 days on average that we get a loan or sale.

So 9 players out permanently in 4 weeks, plus a couple of loans for the 1st team younger players. Then you have the loans of the younger players not yet named in the main squad. On average, that is a player movement every 2 days until the end of the month. Gonna be fun.

    Transfer thread

Felt compelled to post this after going off topic on another thread :tearsofjoy: So how's everyone feeling about our progress towards the season kick off with the size and shape of the squad? As we stand, without youngsters our current squad is Kinsky, Vic, Dubravka, Austin Porro, Spence...

    James Maddison

To your earlier point, I don't think the season coming would be the season these players get restless if not in the side. Perhaps in the latter part of the season if their fitness and form warrant it I guess. Mostly though, they'll be happy to have a great platform to play again. Such a shame...

    Dubravka

Wow - so we have 29 listed players and we've signed another 5 or 6 not on there yet. Not for this thread, but that's quite a net reduction to achieve by the end of August.

    Dubravka

Here's a question. Why is Dubravka not listed as a 1st team squad player on the official website? We've clearly announced him and we've definitely worked on the player squad page and done the removals and adds. Just seems a bit odd. I'm sure Kinsky will be keen to get the number 1 shirt as...

    James Maddison

That's definitely true. However, if we fill the left and right wide slots then Madds, Kulu and eventually Xavi would be sharing that number 10 slot. Would that increased competition for places get the best out of these guys? Would having way less pressure to be the talisman in the team help...

I loved it as well when I went on an England trip in 2017. We landed there and got the train up to Dortmund for one of the Germany games. Koln (or Cologne) is a beautiful city.

    The Centre Forward thread

With addiction, it's often the case that you create peer mentorship groups amongst ex addicts after they break the habit. If you're a former addict then you phone up someone that understands the cravings and they talks you out of it. They understand as they've been there. Putting those 2 guys...

    FIFA: Destroying Football Since 1904

Looks like The FA withdrawing from FIFA is the leading story on the BBC. That is what we should have done when they gave the 2018 World Cup to Russia in all that Blatter corruption.
