Great deal if it comes off. The guy knows our league, works hard and can score....
Also:Some places saying £25m upfront with the rest as add ons. I think this is a good signing, young but still has a decent level of experience and has played in the PL and CL etc. Don't forget he was Chelsea captain for a bit as well - will definitely add some energy and leadership to our midfield.
Also:
"In the 2023/24 season, Gallagher created 53 chances for his Chelsea team-mates, the tenth highest on the Premier League list of midfielders with most above being more attacking midfielders."![]()
Conor Gallagher transfer reasons, striker bids rejected and Mathys Tel problem
It's time to look at what Tottenham need to do in the January transfer window and what has already taken place in the opening weekswww.football.london
You enjoy Spurs losing games?
We're 6 points off 5th, not sure I can get on board with this season being a write off just yet!Haha personally I just think Bergvall has more potential and would like to see him getting more gametime at CM, especially as this season is a write-off in the league anyway.
As I say though, hopefully Gallagher will show he's levels above and will make me eat my words!

2026 Carlton Palmer?A 25 year old 22-cap England international for £34m is quite something
You're not saying.......'zero net spend'...are you?£34m sounds a good deal, basically we have just swapped Johnson for Gallagher (from a money perspective)
Incredible if true. He's a really good player, but I still hope we add yet another midfielder this window.

Bergvall's level is a long way behind Gallagher's at the moment. I'd actually like Bergvall to go away and play on loan somewhere to continue his development. He is poor positionally and makes it hard for the rest of our team.Haha personally I just think Bergvall has more potential and would like to see him getting more gametime at CM, especially as this season is a write-off in the league anyway.

I have always wondered what it is that those who don't like him actually watch? Gallagher has everything required of a good central midfield player, mobile, good on the ball, creative, brave, works hard, great stamina, takes responsibility, plays for the team. Not too shabby for a clogger...
Exactly the kind of player we need right now imo. Fine to add specutlative punts on 19 year-olds as long as we are also bringing in PL experience for the here and now. This has the potential to be a very good signing for us (until he gets injured against Burnley, obviously...Great deal if it comes off. The guy knows our league, works hard and can score....
I think it is because he does all those things but will also mis-control a pass or shin it out of play, so if you are a positive person you see all the good outweighs the bad, but if you are a purist you see the bad and think "Jeez, really".I have always wondered what it is that those who don't like him actually watch? I don't see how anyone could think that he isn't an upgrade on every player in our midfield. Gallagher gets a starting place for us when everyone is fit and available, this is a great signing.
Also sold another player for a similar fee, maybe using both fees to go big on a major signing ?Why are Athletico getting rid?
