Right the season is over, time to assess how each player has gone according to our highly subjective judgements.
Lloris 7.5 Considering it was his first season, a very pleasing effort. Made some big saves at crucial times. Love his confidence in the box.
Friedel 6 Time is now up as far as first team action is concerned. Incompatable with a defence that adopts a high line. Too rooted to the spot.
Walker 6 Started as he finished last season. Terrible. At times he was a liability. Improved greatly toward season's end, but not great, just did not stuff up. His back pass at Anfield is seared into my memory.
Dawson 7 Clearly off the pace when he returned and he seemed hesitant and clumsy. Conceded some silly free kicks in dangerous areas too. By seasons end-Younis who?
Vertonghen 8 Could end up as important a player as Bale. Has got it all. Needs to be more consistent though.
Caulker 5.5 A work in progress, still learning, scored some handy goals, but defensively not to be trusted against the very best.
Ekkoto 6 Clearly not in the groove after a long lay off and looked rusty. Benny is a confidence player and this was clearly lacking. Back to his best in the last match. Offers something going forwrd too.
Naughton. 6 Not a left back and it showed. However a much more intelligent player than Walker. Better technique too.
Lennon. 6.5 Played beautifully in spurts. Disappeared in too many games. Needs to be more demanding of the ball and must carry the ball into the box more. Seems to have lost his mojo re going past players.
Dembele 5.5 I am not a fan. What does he do? Are you Jenas in disguise. Looks as smooth as silk, but impact?
Parker 6 Another player who struggled to regain his form from last season. He is not a ball carrier. Needs to get back too what he does best. Breaking up the play and making a simple pass to someone with more passing ability.
Sandro 7.5 Not the world beater many would have you believe, but an important player all the same. Knows his limitations.
Huddlestone 6 Pretty good, given how little first team action he had. Needs work.
Holtby 6 Showed glimpses, but the pace of the PL caught him out I think. Will be a better player next year for the experience.
Siggurdson 5.5 Apart from the goal against Chelsea, something of a nearly man.
Dempsey 6 Could not tell he was on the pitch for many games, but in contrast with Siggy he got a decent haul of goals and they were usually important ones too.
Defoe. 6.5 Started off like a house on fire, but then injury struck. Something much ignored has been his poor injury record. Not consistent enough.
Bale 10 How could I forget him. Greatest season performance I have ever seen and that goes back to 1967.
Adebayor 4 The same rating as his goal tally. Not good enough and sorry, strikers are meant to score and not just hold up the ball, not that he did that well either. Passion, seemed to be gone, apart from the last three games.
Not bothered to rate players with too few stats. livermore etc.
