Pat Jennings (don’t panic he’s fine!)

Had a fantastic flight home after coming from 2 down to beat Southampton 3-2. Pat was on the fight. Shook his hand. When it got into the cruise he was fantastic with everyone, selfies, autographs, no problem. Great, great guy!
Had a similar experience, must be 15 years ago, flying out of Belfast International on an early morning flight to go to a game. Nothing was too much trouble for the big man when it came to mixing with fans going across to the game. An absolute gentleman.

(And yes, the sausages are Cookstown... ;) )

Our best ever keeper [imo], the way he used to catch corners with one hand was brilliant. Real great guy to talk with as well.
This all day long! Can't think of anybody before or since who can catch one handed, and most seem relectant to do it two handed these day? Although, granted we are talking about totally different footballs.

We are for sure, however during his time the keepers were not protected by refs and used to get kicked/knocked/hit at corners but he always came out on top.

I always wondered what scum fans think of Jennings. He played here longer. And has been working for us for a long time in his current capacity. So do they still rate him?

He must be the only player to have give from us to them that is not detested. Not that there has been many at all.

Huge mistake moving him on

Huge mistake moving him on

With hindsight it definitely was. However in the season before he left he was injured for some time and his replacement Barry Daines was really good. Ultimately, it was the wrong decision to move him on but arguably we were creating the space to develop his successor. Perhaps I lacked a more long term view at the time but apart from the fact he signed for Arsenal I think my reaction was sadness but not devastation or anger.

Pat was a hero. He saved a penalty in the first match I attended at White Hart Lane (58 years ago this week) and I think I've already told the story about when I persuaded my Mum to dye my white Spurs shirt green so I could 'be' Pat. Unfortunately she omitted to take off the sewn on number 8 and Spurs badge first!

I mean yeh, all we have is hindsight but 8 more years at the top, shame it was not with us, I know from his point of view (he is godfather to a good friend) that it broke his heart.

Anyway, a legend he is, PROPER legend
