They're more than that.against a team like Brentford who are all physicality.

We don't actually have a big club's squad though. He's the possible starting eleven looks good (assuming we add a striker) but the quality is really only first 11 deep. If one of Fernandes or Tonali isn't starting that midfield looks distinctly mediocre again. Our starting forward are barely PL level and even with additions it's again skin deep. One injury and its back to what we had last season so I do get what you're saying regarding a big club but let's be honest, we don't have a big club's squad. You can not just throw you arms in the air and say "we gave them that as we didn't have the best side.
That is not what big clubs do, thats not what big mentality is...........
Its not about being overboard, but its worth looking at for sure.
We are trusting people and a management group with money, player and investment like no other with loans like never before. Its worth breaking down
They're more than that.
It did look like a group of footballers who had barely played together.the worst thing about that game was there was not one single positive. bad defending, bad in possession and bad in attack. Some defeats you can accept if you see signs. But that was awful.
Ah..You're more on the Chemical Ali side of the fence....'nothing to see here... everything is fine'Exactly!
I know you're looking to make a point here, but you are correct.
It's like life. I'd rather be around people who speak about the years lived/years ahead than start by saying 'well we're all going to die anyway' or that old chestnut 'we're dying every day' or 'every day is a step closer to death' which are all perfectly accurate however not exactly what needs to be stated loudly.
I guess you want to look on the positive side life all the time. I'm fine with reality, I like to know and appreciate the bad times as much as the good times. It gives better balance imo.Exactly!

Utterly pathetic. I get that we were missing key players but we were barely in the game.
We conceded over 20 shots against Brentford which asks serious questions about our defence. Whilst simultaneously creating very few clear cut chances.
Any notion that things would be a lot different this season seems well out.
I agree this is match day 1 so need to panic. But This league is tight and we have been so bad for 2 seasons now so we haven’t got ten games to get our brick together. We need to be competing for those European places.trouble with embedding so many players is it takes time to do. Seen it with Chelsea when Poch was there, and Poch’s time with Spurs as well. Not helped by so many key abscences either. We know we are upgrading the forward lines so that will improve, just no need to get our knickers in a twist on the first game. Wait 10 games and if we still look that abject then worry, but for now it’s a good lesson and nothing more.

Just landed and see the score . Oh dear. Where we that bad ?
Which is exactly what we have in four days time. And I’m not convinced that line up - or a similar performance - would beat a pumped up Charlton side.Absolutely awful.
I reckon our first 11 for the first game in September will have 8 changes to this starting line up. It was an early rounds league cup line up, for one reason or another.
This isn’t who we are this season… mate!
