How was Fernandes?

Ready. Looked fit and braved tackles.

Can see that in Fernandez, Tonali , Senesi and Van Hecke, they know what to do before they receive the ball. Made faster also because these guys are comfortable with one touch football.

Worrying as we're out of pre-season friendlies now and the first PL game is less than a week away.

Sort of thing you see in a Sunday league game where the old fat LB wants to kick the young tricky winger.

Highlight of yesterday's match for me was seeing Gary Mabbutt looking fit and healthy. Really is a great gentleman and a wonderful ambassador for the club.

Yesterday's team is probably more indicative. We looked fine except in the final third. Which is irritating as it has been our problem since we sold Johnson.

No Tel has been getting better and better from last season onwards and especially since RDZ came in - it's been nice steady progress and he has continued to look good throughout pre season.

You can claim it's a low bar or whatever but Tel is coming along nicely as far as I'm concerned and is a bright spark whilst most of our other decent options in attack are not available to share the load....

So I'd expect

- Kinsky, JPVH, Senesi, Fernandes, Tonali, Tel, Richi all start first game of season
- Gray, Robertson/Davies likely to cover the FB roles
- Bergvall, LWB and Moore with outside chances of being included (if not, Gallagher or Maddison?)
- Whoever we bring in?

Based on preseason matches I've watched... I'd start with:

Kinsky, Gray, VanHeck, Sensei, Robertson ; Tonali Fernandes, Bergvall; Moore, Richie, Tel.

Obviously injuries and this week's training and fitness levels permitting.

Team will change and evolve over the season and with any late new signings.
