Will Lankshear

I’m not sure the club has made an informed decision at all. Those running the club, I juts have very little faith in.

Of course no one knows what Lankshear will do in the game. But they will have watched him. The odds are stacked against any youth player trying to make it, so taking tens of millions is no necessarily a bad thing. And if we can't play him - we would hope for more proven players - then it can be the best for everyone. We have a 20% off clause if we want to buy him back.

By then Kane had already scored about half a dozen goals for us across 13/14 and the start of 14/15. Prem, Europa, the cups.

That goal v Villa was what catapulted him above the likes of Adebayor and Soldado into being our first-choice striker, but he had already reached the first team by then and was considered a decent backup.

Lankshear isn't at that stage yet. He's scored a few for Oxford and (iirc) one for us. That's not to say he won't make it at the top, but it's a little easy to say he's the next Kane just because of his age.

Yeah but Kane was given the opportunity to score those goals. lankshear had been given those opportunities.

I only saw highlights of his play for Oxford so I have no clue if he will make it or not. But he did show something in those highlights to suggest he has something about him.

The Club are truly awful at managing loan players and have a bad bad history of that
I’d be stunned if RDZ has even seen more than 3 hours of footage of him and if it’s the EPL footage that sky broadcast it’s bro worth watching because the quality was so bad (I watched about 15 games of his at Oxford and it was worse than mobile quality)
I assume and hope that RDZ has been promised a ready made striker and hence signed off the sale
I also think Lange hasn’t a clue on young players …. But that’s just my opinion

It’s not an exact science. But we can’t be too critical if the same team acquired these players and were selling at a profit.

What is possibly encouraging is a more dynamic approach to livening up the squad. Turning players who are making up the numbers into cash which hopefully can be spent on first team quality.

But we should keep buying the Lankshears and Bergvalls. The clubs approach went too far into youth prospects maybe (once injuries hit we lacked experienced leaders) but we’re doing okay from these signings.

Ironically it was the younger players who showed more leadership. And we’ve signed a number of mature leaders this summer to address.

What is becoming clear is that RDZ can only be informed on these decisions and is trusting guys like Andy Scoulding who believe they need to go. There is no way RDZ has spent anywhere near enough time with them to make these judgment calls. I've always said that Scoulding has a massive role at the club. It is his reputation on the line really on these calls. He probably rolls up to Lange so it's also his reputation at risk as well.

I also think we're now at that point of inflexion where net spending is done. No more cash is released until player sales happen.

Which is why the crowd who have no interest in selling players like Spence & Bergvall need to weigh up what that actually means. Because the market for Vicario, Romero, Sarr, Bentancur, Solomon & Richarlison seems dry.
