Pedro Porro

Yeh, others over the years too

The lack of empathy for injured players has always baffled me TBH, there has been a tone that its their fault rather than it being seen as unfortunate
It's once again people tinkled off because of how it effects them. Little thought of the personal impact to said player.

I'm pretty sure 99.9% of players want to be out on that field doing what they love, why the hell wouldn't they.

Is it fair to say that Porro coped well overall vs Mbappe? Quite a feat with the added bonus of a game. Well done Pedro!

Had one or two moments, where he very smartly just shadowed until angle went or help arrived.

I remember last season people questioning whether we have any World class players. Given that Porro will be in the Team of the Tournament, surely this gives rise to him being World class? I mean if you reach the World Cup Final and are statistically one of the best players at the Tournament, what else is required? It just shows we’ve not always seen the best of him for us.

I’ve always backed him but can understand the criticism from others. Let’s see what De Zerbi can get from him this season.

The criticism (I've said this many times) often failed to acknowledge Porro follows orders. Him being way up the pitch with no cover behind him? manager orders, Him spamming crosses even when there is no one or only one player to aim at in box? manager orders, him closing into CB position and leaving far post open? manager orders (I particularly hate this, but we and others have been doing this brick for a while).

In a proper system (see Spain, and under Conte) he's a very good player, with a crazy engine and the right attitude.

I'd love to see his goalscoring return for us, lets see what RDZ can do with him (we will need to give a rest at start of season)

Interview (Spanish) where he talks about his family not having money as a kid, and sacrifices his parents/grandparents made

Some translated (AI), Mercadona is a grocery store

"My mother worked at Mercadona and my father took whatever jobs he could find, so my grandparents had to take care of me. It wasn't for any particular reason, simply because my parents worked and my grandparents also took on that role of both mother and father when my parents weren't around. We always remember that because when my mother left for work at 3, 4, or 5 in the morning, she would take me to my grandmother's house," he revealed.

He also thanked his parents and grandparents for supporting his dream of becoming a footballer. "I've been incredibly lucky simply because my grandfather, poor man, was always able to take me to play, to help me fulfill my dreams. I had a difficult childhood because of financial issues ; things weren't very good," he recalled.

" At home we suffered a lot financially , but what I cherish most is my grandfather's way of taking me everywhere, no matter what. He always found a way to make me happy, and I'm also very happy because today I try to repay all the effort he made back then, doing the best I can."

What makes me happiest is giving back all the love and support they've given me from the very beginning, because this isn't the end. GHod willing, I have many years left in my career and I'll dedicate every day of my life to them ,"

In an interview, he also emphasized the importance of education, a crucial message for young people: "That's extremely important to me, especially because of the values my family instilled in me. I was able to fulfill both aspects, which is what makes me happiest. To get my high school diploma, I went to an adult education center in the afternoons because I trained in the mornings, and I managed to juggle both as best I could."
