Eli Junior Kroupi

Solanke who averages 6.0 goals a season with us over Richy who averages 6.75 (and often has played wide)?

Solanke has better control and is better to receive the ball. He is better at passing and link up play and bringing others into the game. He offers more than his lack of goals. I also think if we are set up well then his goal numbers would increase.

For me this deal is a little too expensive for the body of work he's produced. We'd essentially be spending a proven quality fee on someone who has had just the one season. I'd feel a little uncomfortable with that.

It might well be the chance to get a future great but it's such a gamble, I'm not sure it's one we should make. The gambles we should be making is trying to sign Kroupi when Bournemouth for £10m.
Totally agree. 85 mill for a lad whos had one decent season. Its like Solanke all over again. Would rather we went and offered 50 to 60 mill on Harry.

Bayern would be losing 60 goals a season. No way would they bite at that price, nor would H come (I think).

My feeling is, if he doesn't sign a new deal with Bayern, then there's a small chance to get him on a free in 2027 if we have a barnstorming season, get CL and look like being able to compete for the PL.

If not, he either re-signs with Bayern or goes to Barca/Real, imo.

the problem is giving young ones playing time when you are challenging for CL places - its is tight.

not so much if you are a mid table club avoiding relegation.

we have to choose what we want to be.

I'm firmly against this particular transfer. I really don't like when clubs, and especially Spurs, splash big on players that in reality has only had a purple patch for a couple of months! No one would have wanted him in December last year.

That's ordinarily true but we have crap strikers anyway. Giving a prospect a chance doesn't actually affect the quality of what the attack is offering.

Dom and Lankshear?

Potentially, but is that a leap of faith on our part as we don't really know what Lanks will be like at this level?

Perhaps it's Lanks as "3rd choice" that gives RDZ the like for like in his squad mix. When you think back to the Elfsborg match it was actually Scarlett that came off the bench and led the line like Solanke would have done. 1 goal, 2 assists later and we're on our way to glory.

Your probably right, but can you see Barca offering more? Hes 32 now. Multiple reports now saying we are making enquiries. Even if Bayern lost Kane they would still walk that league next season.

I wasn’t there but what a night!

Reminds me of Dušan Vlahović, huge season with 20 goals and then suddenly everyone wanted him for a huge fee. Started the next season strong until he left in January and has been pretty bad ever since.

Spending big on a player with one breakout season is a big risk.

He is We need to move on from this obsession with Kane. He is 32, 33 in 2 weeks. We actually need someone for the future not a 35 year old Kane he will be at the start of the 27/28 season. Which will just mean we need to look for a new striker again, let’s actually just do that now so we can have someone available for the next 3 to 4 years.

The rational part of me completely agrees with this, but the greedy instant gratification monkey in me wants him badly, it’s not my money etc. Could easily be the next Olise, or the next Ndombele.

The insurance against the impulse signings is to look at the underlying stats, performance and style.
All I can say is that I’ve read from some who did know about this lad from Lorient days and were very impressed even then

Yep. The eye test tells me that this lad has the potential to be one of the next great ones. He makes it look easy and glides across the pitch but matched with a high level of maturity for someone so young.

I mentioned before but will reiterate that he has Terry Henry-vibes about his game. After one more season at Bournemouth he may be out of our league already.
